Old Coach House at the Golden Lion

We had a lovely stay here. The owners, Tyrone and Jennifer were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable and a nice size. The evening meal was delicious, just what you’d expect for homemade pub grub. there was a bit of a wait as they were busy but it was so worth it. The steak I had was cooked perfectly with lovely homemade chips. My husband enjoyed his gammon and egg. The breakfast was nice. Cereal and a fresh to order full English with a cuppa. We’d definitely stay there again if we’re around that area.

We visited The Golden Lion for a meal to celebrate my mam's 90th birthday, there was 11 of us so we were asked to pre order our meals, the meals were all piping hot, very tasty and good value, in fact one of the best pub meals I've had in a long time. Everyone was friendly and wished my mam a happy birthday. After our meal we played pool and ended up staying until nearly closing time. Lovely experience all round, we will return when we're in the area

Ideal single apartment adjacent to a busy local in a wonderful St John’s Chapel, Weardale location..with very close proximity to the ‘top of the world’ (Noah’s View Point) Road across to Teesdale. Good pub food and a couple of real ales… Just what was needed after a long drive!

Amazing little find. This place was amazing, the owners were so friendly, we had a warm welcome and they made sure we was happy at every turn, the food in the Adjacent pub was fantastic value, we had a steak that was very tasty and tried the curry's that were on offer, the breakfast was delicious and plentyful, the room was modern, clean and the bed extremely comfortable, and all thats before you venture out and enjoy the views, just a short drive away your in the middle of the Pennies and can drive for miles without even seeing another car, can not recommend this place enough. Also a Co.op in the village for all your bedroom snacks.

This a nice, down to earth pub. There are good 80s music videos on the television. The landlord and chef are really helpful. There is a friendly atmosphere. The food is freshly cooked and good value (great chips). I had the cheese and broccoli bake. I'll go again.

Stayed overnight in the midst of a short walking holiday. Not a disappointment at all. Bedroom was modern and comfortable. Home-made spaghetti carbonara was delicious .. I mean really good. Staff friendly and easy going. Stayed only one night but a very good experience nonetheleast . look forward to staying again.
