The Chateau looked impressive on the outside and promised a 5 star experience. Other positives were cleanliness, pleasant staff and great views. Unfortunately, these were outweighed by the negatives and we couldn't wait to move on especially with the high temperatures at night. Our second floor room had a bed and some antique furniture but little else :- No handles on some of the drawers so I had to hook something in the key holes to pull open, No kettle, No fridge, No water, No standing shower or curtain, No fan or aircon, thin budget towels, only two tubes of shampoo for a three night stay and a ban on bringing any drinks or food to the room. For me, one of the most unforgivable sins was the uPVC windows. Most of the facilities had codelocks fitted which, in such a remote area, seemed unnecessary. A wonderful location to visit with much interesting history and beautiful countryside but the Hotel Chateau de La Cote was a disappointment.

This place was a true find! Set in the peaceful countryside, the view when you approach is super. The welcome in reception is warm and you are made to feel valued, bearing in mind, this stay was not much over €50, a real bargain. I booked a table in the restaurant for dinner and this is a must! The food is ample in choice and absolutely amazing as is the service from the two gents waiting the tables. The chef serves food that tastes as good as it looks, great attention to detail. A great wine selection to go with the meal. All in all, I loved my stay, great staff, fantastic location and an incredibly comfortable bed. I look forward to returning in the future.

The château is nestled in a picturesque setting. The rooms are very ample and private bathrooms as well. They offer a lovely continental breakfast à la française with everything fresh !! The staff are friendly and helpful. The owner Olivier is a passionate and proud owner who looks to ensure everyone’s stay is excellent. Well maintained château and beautifully kept grounds.

The chateau is stunning and well maintained. The rooms are large with mine having a double and single bed. The staff were very friendly and we communicated despite me having no french. A small thing would be to provide hot water for a coffee or tea before 8am and after the dinner service has finished. Overall a great experience.

We hosted our wedding at Hotel Chateau de la Cote and can't say enough wonderful and gushing things about the place and the staff. First off, we want to add context to some of the other reviews we've seen. Notice how a lot of folks complain of things that they clearly should not have expected in the first place. It's a castle built in the fifteenth century! If you expect the outside to look beautiful and then the inside to be a modern Airbnb, you're setting yourself up for disappointment Yes, it's a bit musty and damp. That's the point, it's a fifteenth century castle! (And if you have great friends and family, none of them will care). Yes, sometimes lady bugs gather around some of the windows. There's ivy growing on the walls! It's real, not fake, and real ivy has real lady bugs sometimes. And it's in rural France. And it's run by a family. So no, they aren't going to bend over backwards for you. This isn't the Ritz. If you want that, go stay there. Know what you're signing up for and don't come in with ridiculous expectations or OF COURSE you will be disappointed. We knew what we wanted and we got it and it was fantastic. The castle is exquisite. Driving up the driveway, you enter into a fairytale. The grounds are well kept. The ivy on the walls is gorgeous. The countryside scenery is beautiful. The inside fits the building (though it has a few necessary modern touches that stick out). We found all the rooms comfortable and so fun, since each was unique and each guest wanted to see everyone else's room. We loved the staff, especially the folks that served us meals. They were incredibly helpful, despite having some language barriers between us. We found our way through the communication, with effort from both sides. We were able to house nearly all of our 36 guests (a few chose to stay elsewhere), and it was such a blast. We had the run of the place. It felt like a big slumber party for five days. We LOVED the food. Seriously. The Duck Confit for our wedding dinner was crispy and juicy and everything we wanted. Our guests were floored, and we have lots of foodies. Our cake blew us out of the water, especially because we didn't get to try it ahead of time. We picked two flavors and they did the rest and it was magical. The castle is also really well located to many different small towns. Brantome is a great place to spend the day. There are plenty of vineyards to visit. And you can also just spend the day roaming the grounds and playing in the castle. Olivier, the owner, is a serious yet friendly man. He does not suffer fools. He will say No to some of the things you ask because he simply isn't equipped to do it. But if it is important to you, talk to him, let him know, and see if you can come up with creative solutions together. We had to push back on some of the room choices for our wedding meal, and ultimately it was a good choice for us. He was viewing it from a different value system, but we understood each other and he understood i

The chateau is in a beautiful setting and provides calm but I have to say it needs a bit of refurb. Charming woman in reception explained that the place is going to be spruced up but it is worth checking what has been done since our stay.

We married here 17 years ago and had the most fantastic day of our lives, we returned to relive those memories and was greeted by the wonderful Olivier - who was as charming, warm and friendly as we remember back in 2005. The food was still fantastic and Olivier and his team were attentive and created a lovely relaxing evening. What a fantastic evening! Thank you Olivier - we will not leave it so long next time!! Very special memories in 2005 and so glad you are still running such a beautiful venue today - love Lesley and Stuart xx

They had just had a downpour of rain and we got stuck in the mud in the car Park! Which didn’t start our evening well We were then instructed in no uncertain terms that we had to park in the muddy car park but finally after much discussion we parked NOT in the drive (not allowed!) but opposite Madame Martin the receptionist/ head gave us a very shabby welcome saying that we were late and had booked for 7pm not 8!!!! If we weren’t happy she advised us to go on our way! Extraordinary! I fear that the french are very blaze! I thought the customer was always right? We finally sat down amongst many other empty tables? Obviously plenty of room although Madame telling us to the contrary! We obviously won’t be going again! Food very mediocre Chèvre starter :good however cod overcooked and parmentier and dry extremely ordinary. I wouldn’t go if I was you!!!!
