The lodge boasts spacious, cozy bedrooms, comfortable beds, and exceptional service. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, delicious breakfast, and friendly staff. However, it might be snug for groups of four.

Chaotic, the hotel itself is very nice, it’s really clean. It was really noisy the night we stayed as they had a wedding, you could hear people partying. The breakfast was awful, we were told that breakfast was between 8.30-10am, we went down to the breakfast room at 8.30, there were 3 other couples also sat in there, we waiting by the entrance of the breakfast room for 5mins; then one of the couples mentioned that they couldn’t find any staff so they all sat down. We sat down and it took 25mins for any staff to be located. Which was shocking, they stated they usually put a continental buffet out with fruit and pastries; this was not the case on the day we were there, there was nothing ready as they were behind, I would say possibly extremely inexperienced staff who didn’t know what they were doing or where they were. We ordered breakfast and coffee eventually, then after about another 15/20mins, they came to notify my husband that the breakfast he ordered wasn’t available as they had run out, so he ordered something else which was another wait. We had to ask 4 times for toast….. which isn’t helpful. I’m coeliac so I can’t eat gluten, I did mention this to the staff, but they didn’t have any idea about allergies which was a massive concern, they gave me toast that wasn’t gluten free; after asking 4 times. Overall the breakfast was the worst experience we have had, so I really wouldn’t bother, two of the four couples who entered breakfast with us walked out without breakfast because it was that chaotic and disastrous. With sufficient staff training and some organisation this could be a great hotel, I think if you’re staying there for a wedding you may have a different experience, but staying there for a night away, don’t bother, much nicer places in the area.

We recently stayed in one of the lodges at Cornhill Castle and had such an amazing time! The lodges are so lovely and we really enjoyed the hot tubs. It was so peaceful looking out across the fields. We loved the breakfast basket that was delivered in the morning, and the food in the restaurant within the castle was delicious! We’d eloped in the morning and the staff helped make our stay even more special - we were given a celebratory drink on arrival, chocolate strawberries were left in the lodge and each member of the team we came across took the time to congratulate us. We’re so glad we found this place and can’t wait to come back!

Cornhill Castle Hotel is overall the best hotel experience I’ve had in the UK! An Idyllic setting the building itself epitomises a romantic Scottish castle standing on the banks of the river Clyde. There is plenty of parking in front of the hotel and beautiful grounds to wander all around. The room itself was sumptuous and very comfortable with excellent views over the estate looking out towards the river. The staff were charming, friendly and helpful and when our dinner was a little late being served not only apologised but deducted the cost of desert from our bill by way of compensation. The meal itself was well cooked and presented and delicious. There was an excellent selection of single malts allowing me to enjoy a 15 year old Macallan at the end of dinner. A good range of options were available for breakfast and an 11.00am checkout meant no unnecessary rush to leave. A small improvement might be to provide bath robes in the room, but otherwise a very enjoyable stay and thoroughly recommended especially if you want something for a special occasion.

We attended Cornhill Castle for the event of my son and dayghter in laws wedding. From start to finish, arriving the night before and leaving the day after the wedding the staff could not have done more. To say they gave 100 percent would be an understatement, it was well in excess. Chefs who made the fantastic food, waiting staff and bar staff were brilliant, friendly and professional, they are a credit to this establishment. Nothing to fault during our stay, thank you all, you are truly amazing and brought happiness to all of our family and friends. Keep doing what you do. Thank you Mark

Arrival - 5* The lady who met us at reception was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The public areas of the hotel were beautifully decorated and it had character. Our bedroom - 4* Our room was spacious, nicely decorated with beautiful furniture, had an adequate number of sockets and a lovely view from 3 large windows. It was very clean. The only negative was the bed which was metal framed and creaked loudly with every turn or going in/out of bed. This affected our sleep. Our bathroom - 3* This was very large, nicely fitted out and clean. However, it lacked extra amenities for a place of this quality. It only had hand soap and body wash in the shower/bath area which is no more than a Travelodge. There was no socket for an electric toothbrush or shaver. Dinner - 5* We had an excellent meal with polite and attentive waiting staff. Charlie was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We would love to eat here again. Breakfast 1* When we came down for breakfast, there was a choice of 2 rooms and no one was around to direct us. After waiting in the hall for a couple of minutes a young very surly waitress turned up. She asked if I was with the wedding party to which I replied "No. Breakfast?". She asked me again and I replied again that I was not with the wedding party. She then indicated the smaller room where there were 2 tables that seated 6 or 8 people. She waved to a couple of seats at the empty table as there was a family of 3 on the other. The waitress was very abrupt, unsmiling, non welcoming and provided the minimal service possible. We looked at the menu and went to check the very inadequate offerings on the small table in the corner. There was no fruit, cold meats or cheese as mentioned on the menu. When we asked the waitress she grumpily said she would bring some fruit but the cold meat & cheese were just for room service. That was not mentioned on the menu. The table was very sticky - every item of cutlery, glasses, plates, cups etc popped when picked up. The waitress did not ask us if we wanted tea or coffee. We ordered a Scottish breakfast but were very disappointed with the quality of the food. Again, not what we would expect from a hotel of this grandeur. The toast was rock hard on one side and soft on the other - it had obviously been lying around for a while. We had to request tea and fresh toast ourselves. The family on the other table warned us about the scrambled eggs but the fried eggs we ordered were so overcooked they weren't much better. The waitress never asked us if we needed anything and made us feel that we were imposing on her time. After the other family left, the waitress set the other table for a couple more guests but she didn't wipe the table and there were a lot of food remnants on the table. It was shocking! It was a pity that the last memory of Cornhill Castle hotel was the breakfast.

We are quite local so not our first visit to Cornhill. it is a lovely venue. I even like the wallpaper. However, for a recent evening meal all was really quite good, but the rib-eye steak was poor and extremely chewy. I mentioned this and was told it would be passed on. I heard nothing which is ok because no response was promised. i tried to do a review but was out of date to use the scan image method given. I contacted Cornhill and was told they aim for a high standard with everything including their beef rib-eye and were sorry about this particular steak. Again, there is nothing wrong about the response, but somehow, I wonder if the Cornhill could have done more? The steaks at the Albany in Biggar were great... We'll go there again next time!

We recently visited Cornhill Castle for a wedding show-around. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Tas, who guided us through the venue, was fantastic. She took the time to walk us through each part of the castle and made sure to answer all of our questions thoroughly.

I booked a lodge for my husbands birthday and I am so pleased we did. The lodge was just beautiful, it was small but I expected that based on the pictures. It was warm and very comfortable with a good sized living area and bathroom, yes the bedroom was small but it made it cosy. The bed was very comfy and is classed as a zip link bed. We used the hot tub and enjoyed the beautiful views. The bar is decorated nicely and the open fire was very welcome. The only issue was the wedding guests holding the door open for no reason and letting the heat out and the noise in (not the fault of the hotel). It was nice to see that the hotel bar was reserved for the restaurant and hotel guests and the wedding guests directed to the bar in the other area. Staff were very nice and attentive. My only issue was that the music from the wedding was so loud you could hear it from the lodge and it slightly spoilt the quiet/relaxing atmosphere of the lodge surroundings especially as lodge guests were asked to be out of their hot tub by 10pm for noise levels. The breakfast hamper was a lovely touch and allowed us to enjoy a continental breakfast at our leisure. The roll and croissant were warm and fresh. We can't wait to book again for a romantic treat.
