Service and attention to detail was impeccable. Our room (classed as cosy) was the Jayne Marple room, although small it was filled art decor memorabilia. The staff were second to none, the evening meal at the Pilchard inn was superb. My partner was acting like a kid in a candy shop as this hotel experience was on her bucket list. Special thanks to Robert who transported us from the carpark to the hotel and our return to our vehicle via the sea tractor (which he handled with amazingly. Simon who met us on arrival with a fine glass of champagne and also many thanks to our waiter Nathan, who looked after us so intensively on our arrival. All in in all, it was an amazing experience.

A stunning experience. A magical place takes you back to the Art Deco era of the 1930’s. Black tie dinners, perfect cocktails, no TV and not missed. Proper champagne glasses and not flutes. Live music and amazing staff. We shall definitely return.

My husband booked this as a surprise for our anniversary and what a surprise. I love the art deco style, the hotel is wonderful, in a superb location. The staff were lovely, helpful, friendly and, as previously mentioned on another review, happy. Well run & hope Nicki gets a rest herself after sorting things out after recent events! You have a good workforce behind you who show excellent teamwork and stepped up to a challenge calmly and efficiently. Well done I'd be very proud of them (and yourself of course). I didn't want to leave and hope to return one day.

From the first contact with staff at the carpark on arrival to the last contact on departure they were simply fantastic. Friendly but professional at all times. I am really interested in the functioning of hotels and restaurants and believe that the way staff conduct themselves when not in the guest views really determines service and all the staff appeared so happy and enjoying what they did which radiated into the excellent service. Arrival at the hotel was lovely being personally briefed on the hot land provided with a glass of good champagne and a hot towel. I expect most people come for the Art deco experience and the buildings, furniture and ambience transported you back into the era. Despite being MARCH I was mad enough to fancy a swim in the sea pool. Not only were towels and robes provided reception switched on the sauna so that I could warm up after. On discovering I had braved the freezing water I was congratulated by one of the waiting staff who also liked to cold water swim. The food was superb at all times and a good selection of wine to enjoy. what more could you ask for sipping a classic martini dressed in evening wear listening to the small band playing I the ball room.

We stayed for our 40th anniversary and were extremely happy with our choice. The Beach House was superb with wonderful views. We were treated to a complimentary bottle of good champagne and chocolates in our room, which was a lovely touch. All the staff were wonderful and really represented the hotel as a great place to stay. The food was absolutely fantastic, although there could be more vegetarian options at dinner, my wife was a little jealous of the choices I made, did thoroughly enjoy what was available. We chose the "Wine Flight" option at dinner, with each course was accompanied by a specially chosen wine, a great choice as each glass was a beautiful match for our individual dishes. We had one evening meal in the pub, this too was superb with quality of food and service living up to the standard of the neighbouring hotel. We enjoyed our special weekend enormously and will certainly look to stay at Burgh Island again.

The hotel location is gorgeous. The service provided in the hotel restaurant by Mr Ali and Mr Farzad was the best. Those two men were extremely professional, helpful and the Hotel should be proud of having them in their team. Without them the restaurant would be bleak. Extremely expensive fruit de mare, and very limited choices .Chicken breast over £40 but not on the menu fish and chips. The receptionist lady was extremely serious, lack of smile and was just doing her duties.

The hotel was amazing, the art deco theme was amazing. The room was beyond spectacular and the views phenomenal. We stayed in the Fruity room and the bathroom was amazing. The surroundings are 'wow' inducing. Just brilliant. The staff were amazing too. We chose between afternoon tea and dinner due to budgets. The price was similar to London prices per person and it did not deliver. The service was verrry slow, tea ran out and I couldn't finish my cakes as I needed liquid to help cut through the sugar, it was not the attentive service I would expect. The sandwiches were sparse and when we asked for more we were told no by one server then asked someone else who did eventually bring a couple out. Generally afternoon tea is non stop sandwiches, but we felt like we struggled to get more. The scones were great, but ran out of jam and cream, and it took ages to get anyone to bring more out. It would have been nice to have a theme for it, but there was no differentiation for the afternoon tea. This was a landmark birthday treat, so a bit sad it wasn't better. I love an afternoon tea and felt this was not good value at £110 for 2.
