We had an absolutely unforgettable 2-nights stay in here, where we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the beautifully calm environment. The room (Ocean View) was very spacious, comfortable bed, very spacious bathroom with rain shower, gorgeous ocean-view, lovely beach where the accommodation offers complimentary kayaks or boat, great sunsets, and deers walking up to us 'begging' to be petted. Gorgeous experience, not far from Key West (half hour drive) and we're looking forward to returning soonest.

This is a very serene location. The view is beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The accommodations are comfortable. It was exactly the getaway location we wanted. As a plus, the cute key deer made an appearance. Our host, Beatrice, was very accommodating.

Love location & place. View is amazing Rooms clean. Bed comfortable. Enjoyed key deer visiting each evening. Breakfast was okay. Nothing fancy. Cons. It was a burden not to have ice available to guests. Either freezer or ice machine. Communication was lacking. Responses were received 18-24 hours later. Tried to get info sooner, but received check in details, info & password at our check in time. Sent numerous texts & left vm message that the password was incorrect which resulted in no internet or TV for 18 hrs until she responded with correct password.

The location is awesome - feels private, beautiful views, right on the ocean. Nice continental breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable, AC worked great. The cost/value and some of the experience are why I didn't rate higher. There was no one there at check-in, I got an email with info about how to get into the room and it said to respond to the email with any questions. I responded to the email a couple of times with some questions but never heard back so that was a bummer. If you stay downstairs - the upstairs area is public and where breakfast is served! I didn't realize this and missed the breakfast on the first day - I was looking for it in the downstairs public areas. We had one other weird experience - when we were checking out someone (maybe the owner??) came and sat in a chair smoking a cigarette watching us move our belongings, didn't say a word, and had parked in the way of us getting to our car. It felt like they were making sure we were out of there on time? It was just a bit odd. I can also agree with the previous comments that the number and location of cameras felt excessive and invasive. They need more information for guests if there isn't going to be any staff on site (and if they aren't responding to the email) - maybe a manual in the rooms? The location is awesome, I think it really has potential, hopefully the new owners can continue to improve.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barnacle BnB. After the hustle and bustle of Key West, we were amazed at the quiet solitude. KW hotel rooms are small, Barnacle was huge. Located right on the beach, waterfront, the views were amazing. Each evening a small herd of Key deer wandered through the property, up close and personal. We were able to go for quiet walks down the road and saw lots of birds, lizards, deer, an enormous turtle and a few furry things we had no idea about. The room had everything you'd expect, was clean and appealing. Bathroom as well. It was nice to be able to spread out in the large room. Upstairs was another huge space, they called a cafeteria. Breakfast was coffee and pastries, both satisfying. We found a great locals bar/restaurant back up on Route 1, good food, made a few new acquaintances. I highly recommend Barnacle BnB. I suspect next time we go to KW, we might stay here and drive to KW for the day, it's a great experience.

Beware of fraud! Made a reservation 5 months in advance with a fixed rate via *******. They did ask you to contact the "bed and breakfast" 24 hours in advance to let us know your time of arrival. I myself sent an email to the accommodation 4 days before arrival, but did not receive a response. I finally received a response 1 day before arrival. We were welcome, but they had "allegedly" not received a reservation via ******* (while there were reservation papers in black and white). They also asked in the email to cancel ******* and book with them. This to make everything go faster. Once we arrived, no one was waiting for us while an hour had been agreed. After I managed to reach someone from the hotel after a lot of effort, she said that the price had doubled. So suddenly we were on the street.

Bed and breakfast geboekt via ******* op 13/10/23 ******* bevestigde het en we dienden te betalen ter plaatse 461 $ voor 2 nachten. Vijf dagen voor vertrek kijken we terug naar de b&b en zien we dat ze sinds twee maanden nieuwe eigenaars hebben. ******* liet ons tijdens boeking weten dat we 24u voor aankomst dienden te mailen met het uur dat we aankwamen. Wij stuurden al 5 dagen op voorhand maar kregen geen respons. In de mail legden we uit wat we betaald hadden via wat en de aankomst Na nog enkele mails te sturen, kregen we een mail terug dat ze boeking niet hebben ontvangen. Toevallig hadden ze wel nog 1 kamer ter beschikking voor die datum. Hierbij vroegen ze of het mogelijk was om de boeking met ******* te annuleren en bij hen te boeken. Uitgelegd dat we al geboekt hadden maar enkel dienden te betalen ter plaatse. Volgende dag aangekomen was er niemand aanwezig ter plaatse op het voorziene uur. Hierdoor telefonisch contact moeten opnemen. Zij gaf aan dat de prijs die wij zeiden niet correct was en het 864 $ voor twee nachten. Volgens hen dienden we dan maar contact op te nemen met ******* om ons te vergoeden. Conclusie grote scam. Indien de prijzen veranderd waren konden ze dit op z’n minst gemaild hebben toen wij vijf dagen op voorhand mailden. Indien dit niet kon, konden ze tijdens het mailverkeer het ons meegedeeld hebben toen we de prijs uitdrukkelijk vermelden. Gastvrijheid 0/10
