Be careful if you book here, they literally lied to us. We went to check in and the Manager told me that someone from our travel agency had called and asked them to upgrade us so he 'moved' us from a two bedroom tent into two separate tents(??). I told him that we are traveling with a 13 year old boy, and do you think I would want two tents and to have him in one by himself out there?? I told him there is no way anyone from our travel group would have called to ask for this as they know there is no way I would want it. It was a lie. He remained fixed to his 'call' story and I was not believing it. We went and looked at the two tents and there was no way I was going to do that. I told him that I did not want to call him a liar, but I did not believe his story. I asked him to call the 'person' that called him so I could speak to him and he would not, he said he would go back to reservations. I told him we paid for and were confirmed for a two bedroom tent, and that is what we want and expected. He was obviously full of crap and did not have a two bedroom for us, as he probably gave it away and was trying to spin it off and it just infuriated me. If something happened, then just be honest with me and offer me solutions. We ended up coming to a compromise, after he offered us another option and a 'free' Dune Ride that I had already paid for and have not been refunded for. The maybe owner or manager came by our table at dinner and while I can appreciate his effort and thought, it was not appropriate to do while I was eating with my family. I was not going to get into it with him in front of my family at dinner. His employee lied to me and I will not forget that. It is unfortunate, as this is an amazing area and the accommodations were nice (thus a 2 rating), but it should not have been this hard. Be careful what you book, confirm it, show up earlier to ensure you can get your room and book your activities.

Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp
4.5/513 Reviews
If you have a four-wheel drive car, you can drive to the desert hotel by yourself. If not, you need to contact the hotel via WhatsApp and ask the hotel to arrange a pick-up. The round trip is 32 Oman dollars. There is a desert next to the hotel, so you need to climb up to see the sunrise and sunset. The hotel has open-air movies and bonfires in the evening. The dinner was very good and in line with Chinese tastes.
