Overall was a good one night stay. But £140 for a double room with a bed you could feel the springs and small very dated room and tiny bathroom I feel was overpriced but I guess it’s the area. The friendliness of the staff made up for the disappointment in the room. Good breakfast.

I've stayed here every time I've traveled from the US to Holy Island. It is always clean, comfortable and perfectly located. The food works, the staff are friendly. Highlight of St. Cuthbert's Way walk.

We stayed here for 2nights , in what we nicknamed ‘The Telescope Room’. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The atmosphere in the bar was cosy and informal. The food in the restaurant, both for breakfast and evening meal, was delicious. But what really made this stay so lovely were the staff. Dan, Richard and all the bar/restaurant staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming. They catered to everyone’s needs, nothing was too much trouble.

We visited the Manor House Hotel for lunch whilst visiting Holy Island with a coach trip. We initially started by having a cup of tea and found that they made a good cup! As it seemed busy we decided to stay there for lunch, even though we found the menu a little pricey. We opted for the butchers ham, cheddar cheese and tomato sandwich which came with salad and coleslaw. Whilst ordering one of the bar staff mentioned to another that it must be OAP day out. I found this comment rather rude, people should not be judged by their age, in fact tourists visiting the island is keeping them in a job. We had roughly a 45 minute wait just for a sandwich, I understand the wait for hot food, but struggled to understand why it took 45 minutes took make a sandwich. When it did arrive the sandwich only had ham on it. The ham was also what I would call wet ham, it wasn't thick or from a butchers. When I went up to the bar with the plates to speak to someone I was told by a member of the bar staff that this wasn't a bar issue. Surely it is? I mean you'd taken my money. When I found someone to speak to he apologised and went to rectify the mistake. The sandwiches were brought back after about 5-10 minutes. They had been sprinkled with 2 different types of cheese and had some tomato on them. The tomato was basically the stalk. It was very underwhelming and was not worth its money at all. We mentioned to the man that the ham wasn't butchers ham to which he replied he didn't know anything about ham. To me it's false advertising. I felt like the apology was very false. They'd had my money and they didn't care. I would not visit this place again!

High Points: the outside eating area view, the room #3 décor and space with a tub, the food in general; the proximity to St. Mary’s original ruins and St. Mary’s new church; plenty of food variety choices Low Points: a bit understaffed and rushed service at times; the plastic menues Unique Points: location, location, location makes this the best place to stay

The location is magnificent, on Holy Island with views of the water. The room was quite nice. The staff were competent -- handed us our room keys and made us a dinner booking, but were not able to accomodate anything for an early breakfast so we could leave while there was low tide.

I booked a nights stay here as a birthday treat for my fiancé. Let’s start on a positive note, it could be the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. However, things go down hill from there. We stayed in room 3, I specifically wanted a room with a bath tub. The cleanliness of the bathroom was questionable, lots of dust, dead spiders and debris. I had to rinse the tub before using it. The room was above the kitchen, from check in to check out it smelled of cooking, it was like we were in the kitchen. We found the staff to be rude at times, especially the bar staff. At breakfast there was only one person working, service was slow and we had time wait for basics to be topped up, glasses, bread, juice etc. If you’re looking for value for money or a first class experience this isn’t the hotel for either.

Stayed in the 4 person family room which was fine for us (double bed and 2 singles). Power shower (over bath) was great. Tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Gorgeous view of the castle. Beds ok but lumpy and hard pillows. Very quiet room on top floor (no lift!!!); decor a little dated. Had chips from the bar the first night which were just soggy and horrible, but the breakfasts were fabulous (husband had Northumberland breakfast with haggis, black pudding; kids had surprisingly good veggie options) and plentiful. We had one evening meal in the restaurant which was tasty, but mains were £20+ so not inexpensive. Staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a small car park which means you can park right in the middle of the village. Hotel is right next to priory ruins, and 5 min walk to harbour and look-out tower. We liked it and would return.
