We stumbled upon this place by accident when we stopped to fuel up between visits to Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. What a find! We enjoyed fantastic freshly cooked meals. The food was amazing, the staff were incredibly friendly - an absolute hidden gem!

My friend (age 74) was due to stay and I dropped her off at 7:10 pm and whilst the owner was there he wouldn’t let her check in as it was after 7:00 as he was going home for his tea. He was so rude but said she could wait in the rain until he came back in about an hour. She had booking confirmation from ******* but he says he didn’t use it so wouldn’t even look at it. Luckily the Lindisfarne Inn next door had a room and they were so helpful. If you want to experience Northumberland hospitality at its worst don’t stay at the Eat and Sleep.

Perfect overnight stop over for Motorhome/Campervans with added bonus of superb breakfast, £10 Northumberland £8 English, highly recommend the Northumberland, Shaun is the lovely host and everything kept so clean. Excellent coffee too. The overnight parking is incredibly quiet despite the A1 close by, views towards Lindisfarne, It’s perfect for visiting the Lindesfarne area.

Whilst i didnt stay here so can't attest to the overall experience, i did call in to check it out as i passed and had a good chat with Shaun who runs it and his chef. It looks pretty clean, and gives great value for those on a budget not wanting to pay too much, with the advantage of the lindisfarne inn on the doorstep if you fancy a pint before bedtime !!. when i'm next in the area i will definately consider it.

I am only echoing the exact same comments from the review below Sept 2023. I also wish to draw attention to the response that reviewer received from the owner - it’s a clear indication of his rude manner and that you shouldn’t stay here based on this alone. I chose not to stay at Eat Sleep Lindisfarne based on the tone I received on the phone. The Lindisfarne Inn next door was full, but I highly recommend you book there instead. I have stayed in budget Hostels often and never been spoken to so badly. You shouldn’t be in the hospitality sector.

This score is not indicative of the quality of the accommodation - I have meant to tell others of my experience. I had booked at the bunkhouse a month prior on the phone and no payment was taken. We had been walking all day on St Cuthbert’s way and arrived before 6pm on Sunday. The doors were locked with no sign of guests or staff; the cafe was not open. There was a note on the door with two phone numbers to call after hours. One number did not work. The other number went to voicemail and we left two messages from two different phones. When we called again, the phone rang and then was disconnected ringing. We were very tired and cold so after twenty minutes we went to the hotel next door to warm up. We thought it most sensible to get a hotel room as one was luckily available. An hour later, we heard from the bunkhouse and were told it was open and we could go over. I told the person on the phone we had decided to stay at the hotel. I commented that I felt it was poor service that there was no one on the end of the phone when we had tried, and he hung up on me. The bunkhouse itself looks like it does in the pictures - my tip would be to ensure it will be open when you need it. We were lucky to be able to afford a hotel that night.

I stopped at the services to use the toilet and they were out of order. I was really quite desperate so I thought I would try the cafe behind. I walked to the counter and asked if I was able to use the toilet. I was told no and that toilets are for paying customers only otherwise people would be using it all day. I was then told if I wanted to buy something I could use the toilet but I explained that I had left everything in the car so had nothing on me to pay. In this situation being polite got me nowhere and I went back to the car and cried as the whole interaction just felt cold and mean. We ended up driving on and had to stop again which is annoying when you have a 4 hour drive to get through. I would suggest adding a charge to the toilets, as had I been told there was a fee I would’ve gone and found the money to go in; but this encounter left me feeling a bit down and frustrated after my polite approach.

Stopped with my disabled daughter to get a coffee and juice to takeaway for the drive and use the toilets, got told by a man serving that toilets weren’t public toilets and only customers sitting in could use them. Found it strange since he wouldn’t let a paying customer use the toilets because we weren’t sitting in. Wouldn’t go back

We stopped here on the way to Lindisfarne and had breakfast before it was safe to cross the causeway. Beautiful breakfast delivered quickly and at a decent price. Friendly service topped it off. A very nice cafe serving very good breakfast. Would recommend.
