Marramarra cancelled my booking in January the day before we were due to stay and again in April after taking full payment amounting to thousands of $$. They have promised a refund for over a month and are now ignoring emails and calls. Outside of losing financially, I can't believe the dishonesty of re-booking our dates and taking the full payment, knowing they never intended to accommodate our stay. This was supposed to be a rare and hard earned celebratory weekend that has ended up as a nightmare. A complete scam and I am still in disbelief that they are allowed to treat people this way.

Owner called us in a very aggressive manner after we left what we considered to be constructive feedback. Obviously this soured our experience and I would not recommend to friends and family. When you're charging $2k+ a night, you expect a certain level of luxury. It missed the mark compared to other comparable places we've stayed. (Nb we got a 50% off reopening promo, but even for $1k a night it didn't hit the mark) Location is stunning. Accommodation is very nice. Most of the staff were very good, but a few teething problems need to be improved and it just felt like they were trying to cut corners on some things (lack of alcohol free alternatives for baby moons, minibar not restocked, no snacks on the room, trained bar staff on Saturday night only, only 1 wine by the glass). It's all fairly minor but adds up at the price point they are aiming for. Also important to note that they were no longer all inclusive. Many of the other couples who had previously stayed there were as disappointed as us.

Tried the half price opening special...... Very disappointing experience. Poor communication before we even arrived, which continued once there. Staff who seemed out of their depth at every turn. Food and wine choices are extremely limited ($30 glass of wine, only 1 white to choose from). Facilities not up to scratch for what is touted as an exclusive retreat.

Be Cautious Before Working Here I worked as a chef at Marramarra Lodge and unfortunately, my experience aligns with many of the negative reviews already shared. I was not paid in full for my work, and despite following up multiple times, I’m still waiting for the outstanding payment. Communication has been poor, and there’s been no indication that the matter will be resolved. The working environment was highly stressful, with poor management practices and a lack of support. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this as a workplace.

Visited Marramarra Lodge in March 2025. Location is spectacular and the food was just beautiful. We made the most of the water amenities and went paddle boarding and a little fishing, although we could have lounged by the stunning pool all day. Arriving by boat made the getaway feel extra special. Would absolutely return and would stay an extra night! 10/10

We had an amazing stay at Marramarra, Lodge the location is spectacular and the views are stunning. The food was outstanding a good variety and a great wine list. Lots to do on the water, Fishing, paddle boarding and swimming in the pool. Would return.

Personal Testimony – Unpaid Wages for 4 Weeks of Work My name is Matthieu Arthuis, and this review reflects my personal experience as an employee at Marramarra Lodge (operated by P & F Hurley Pty Ltd). I started working at the lodge on 6 February 2025 as a housekeeper and general maintenance worker. However, I was never paid for the four full weeks worked between 19 February and 16 March 2025, totaling 174.75 hours and $6,116.25 gross. Greg Walker, who presents himself as the manager, stated — in his own words, I quote: “I have full authority by the owner and directors” and “I am authorised to set all budgets including staff wages and contracts.” With these words, he clearly identified himself as responsible for managing staff wages. Yet, none of his commitments were fulfilled. I have also not received the payslip covering that work period. A formal complaint has been submitted to the Fair Work Ombudsman, and further legal steps are underway. I am sharing this testimony to inform future employees and guests about how staff may be treated behind the scenes. This is a personal account based on specific, dated, and documented facts

Replying to SC review below January 2025 below - cancelled my booking as per their terms - 4 weeks ago and 8 emails later and this hotel is still refusing to refund my very large 50% deposit. BEWARE this place appears to be in financial crisis. Will update here.

I went there in December heat last year with two friends, and the service and atmosphere were incredible. Being in the national park made the experience even more special. The stunning water views by the pool were so relaxing. It was cool traveling there by boat.
