We had an absolutely terrible experience at this hotel. We came to attend a Holiday party nearby. When we arrived, two valet attendants in front of the hotel told us we couldn’t park there if we were staying for the night but we had to self-park. They didn’t offer to park our car or offer to let us unload our bags, just directed us to park behind and across street from hotel. On checking in we found there was no elevator and we were in a room on the third floor (we are both in our 70’s) in the back of the hotel. There was barely enough room to get dressed in for our party, no mirror, no closet (only armoire with no room for dresses or pants). To top it all off, the room was at 62 degrees (30 outside) when we returned for the evening. We asked front desk to turn up. By morning it was 60 degrees and freezing. When we called again, the gentleman at the front desk apologized and said they had been fighting with the heat all night! I asked whether it was an issue in the whole hotel. He said only our room and one other a few doors down. He offered to bring up a portable room heater. After he did as I was struggling to find a place to plug it in, I noticed that there was already a space heater in the room. So, I can only assume that heating has previously been a problem. Finally, there is a fire station nearby and the alarms went off at 7am.

My wife and I stayed overnight and dined at the restaurant. The hotel staff was awesome. The room was clean and glowing. We are foodies and the restaurant was excellent. Chef came out to say hello and recommend apps/entrees. We ate at the bar and the staff was very friendly. I will be back and highly recommend.

This once stately superb neighborhood gem is sadly ……over. The bar area has terrible atmosphere, horrid decor, and is too loud to have a conversation. The beautiful wooden bar is gone - replaces with a cheap artificial marble and some black metal shelving that belongs on a garage. The food is mediocre across the menu, just a k, nothing more - edible but not special. I will say the service was attentive and charming st the bar and the drinks were good.

We loved this Inn! Well appointed rooms, very clean - all details thought through. Great staff/ service, too. The Inn itself is beautiful and well maintained. While we didn't eat at the restaurant, it was nice to have this an option. A great experience all around.

Awesome. Downtown Inn that was just perfect. Their Inn has three floors, but it does not have an elevator. Pleasant staff and cleanliness was a plus. We had made reservations for their restaurant. Unfortunately their restaurant was closed for repairs. Their staff cordially made reservation for us at another restaurant. Well Done!

Perfect for a couples getaway weekend! Parking was easy across the street, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back! Give this place a try if you are traveling to this part of NJ.

My family, who lives a hop, skip & a jump away have always recommended Bernards Inn. We had a family gathering a couple of years ago for brunch and had dinner a few times. This time we stayed at the Inn which exceeded our expectations in every way. The front desk customer service (Nancy, Angel, Wendy) waaaay up here!!! Angel phoned us during our late arrival to notify us that a lot of places to eat nearby closes soon & if we were hungry to grab something on the way. I think he even offered to pick up something for us. “Who does that?!” Nancy & Wendy are the sweetest, most thoughtful human beings who always made sure our stay was pleasant & comfortable. I noticed the front desk staff would always put the phone down momentarily to greet guests as they walk down the stairs or come in/out of the building. The bathroom toilet paper (among other things) had a BI logo silver sticker. Such wonderful, neat touches. Love the old school feeling like the traditional keys 🔑 and rotary phones. Loved this place. Loved Room 20. We plan to return & make it a point to try out the different rooms, which are all lovely. This is so convenient to where my family lives and plan to make this our go to when we return in the near future. It may be a 4 star hotel but receive 5 star 🌟 treatment all the way!!!

My wife and I went here many years ago for our Anniversary dinner. The hotel featured a food/wine-tasting meal, and I am glad we reserved a room for the night. The meal and wine were AWESOME, and the room was exceptionally nice. Highly recommend this hotel for your next adventure. We'll be back!
