Novotel Berlin Mitte

Berlin City Centre Berlin|2.05km from Fork & Walk - History & Food Tours Berlin
In summary: Superb breakfast, good rooms, pretty good location (but there are better in Berlin), a few details could be improved. Good value for money. Accor has a huge range of hotels in Berlin, this is for them a midrange offering. The rooms are of reasonable size, I had a huge bathroom, minibar and room safe. Very clean. Bed surprisingly comfortable. Free wifi good enough for video streaming (there's also 'premium wifi' you can pay for). TV and heating controls fussy. Shower gel holder in the bathroom remained empty throughout my four day stay though there was liquid soap by the sink. Reading lights in room below average. Reception friendly, a little chaotic. The hotel restaurant is open in the evenings, snacks and drinks available after hours. Locked luggage storage next to reception. Breakfast is really nice - great coffee and fruit juice, all the rest as you would expect including some cold fish dishes. One level below an 'omelette bar' status but still pretty good for this price level of hotel. Location in Berlin Mitte is pretty good - they're two U-Bahn stations and several bus stops within a few minutes' walk, even though some of the bus schedules are a bit disappointing. Nikolaiviertel is 5 minutes walk away and if you increase your walking time to 15 minutes you can get to Alexanderplatz and Museuminsel easily enough. There are better location hotels in Mitte but it's quite OK really. Good value for money; rates vary quite a bit by day of the week (so if your travel days are flexible play around with your stay dates). I generally stay either more downmarket or more upmarket than this but it's interesting to see how a midrange hotel works - quite OK, though as often in this category of hotel proactive detail management doesn't get priority. I would recommend.

This is a modern functional hotel (which we booked via BA holidays) apparently popular for conferences, so you get the picture. Four of us went for a city break. The hotel is well situated within easy walking distance of Gendarmenmarkt. Spittelmart U-bahn is 2 minutes away. Easy and welcoming check-in. Our rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bathroom had an excellent walk-in shower although the wash basin had the depth of a birdbath. What was surprising was the amount of wasted space in the bedroom with a great void between the bed and the door which could have been used for some proper drawers and shelves. As it was, there was only 1 drawer and 3 shelves, one of which was useful only if you were 2 metres tall (see photo). The wardrobe, if you could call it that, was an open hanging space, but it was situated at right angles to a padded seat (see photo) making accessibility difficult and there was only one chair in the room. Tea-making facilities were available but instant coffee only and powdered milk. We used to take a small jug of milk from breakfast and keep it in the fridge. There was a very good and comprehensive breakfast with just about everything one could want. As a morning tea drinker I cannot comment on the coffee which came from a machine, but there was an excellent selection of leaf teas. The hot food was OK, but nothing cooked to order so that eggs were either warm scrambled or hard boiled. Staff were very helpful and dishes promptly refilled. We didn’t use the restaurant for dinner as the menu looked pretty basic but there are restaurants within walking distance. All in all, nothing special but I would still recommend it for a short stay.

This small family run hotel is on a side street, but within easy walking distance of the river and many tourist highlights in addition to restaurants and small shops. The owner greeted me effusively when I arrived and I was immediately made to feel very welcome. Both check-in and check-out was very smooth. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I was even able to buy travel tickets here and the owners had a wealth of useful tourist information. I stayed in a comfort room with a balcony. The balcony was a bit of a disappointment as it was standing room only! It faced a courtyard and was so quiet that it was easy to forget that I was in a capital city. The room was cosy and the heating unit was effective. I left the window open in the morning and the room warmed up quickly when I returned in the evening. The bathroom was a decent size with a wonderful shower. The shower cubicle could have fitted six people – should you be so inclined! The glass door was excellent as it prevented any splashing or seepage onto the bathroom floor. The extractor fan was highly efficient. The bed was comfortable with nice sheets. The safe was easy to use with clear instructions. There were plenty of sockets within easy reach. Wi-fi was consistently good. I agree that the breakfasts were a bit expensive, but I found it more convenient to eat at the hotel before leaving each morning. The food was freshly prepared and tasty. I particularly liked the porridge with blueberries, banana, nuts, linseed and honey. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. My thanks to you all for making my visit such a memorable one.

24/7 on-site staff, daily cleaning, clean rooms, beautiful balcony, and great in-room services. Overall my absolute favorite place to stay in Berlin! My friend was able to book a suite directly over mine and we could take the outside staircase to one another's rooms. Loved my stay!

Nice hotel, beautiful and clean, very good price. The position is super, near the metro and Alexanderplatz. Very easy to reach from the airport. We didn't had breackfast at the hotel so I don't know how it is.

The location is very good, next to the subway, easy to go anywhere! It is also very close to the Berlin Wall Relics Park, less than 1km on foot. But the room is too small. I'm 183 and my feet are hanging on the bed. . . . . .

I absolutely LOVED my 3 night stay at The Circus Hotel. I seriously didn’t want to leave! I was delighted when Marianne checked us in and told us we had been upgraded to one of the best rooms (since it was our honeymoon)! The whole room was fantastically perfect; we had a private terrace to view the city and drink our sparkling wine, the bed was VERY comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean, and the shower was large and easy to use with great water pressure. There was plenty of information about the hotel and the city within the resources in the room, which really appealed to me as an anxious traveller. Tobi and the staff capably took care of 5 little ducklings that jumped from the roof to our terrace when we were relaxing in the room! After being very tired of continental breakfast at other hotels across Europe, we were so happy to eat in the Circus’ lounge in the morning. We ate our favorite breakfasts there every morning, served by the lovely Luiza and Tay. The hotel’s lounge/lobby area is so perfectly eccentric and funky, with very fun furniture and lighting fixtures. We also really really enjoyed Lost My Voice bar! We drank so many sinfully delicious cocktails there in the evenings. I 100000% recommend The Circus Hotel. The value was even great; I paid $900 for three nights, SO many cocktails, and 3 breakfasts for two people.

The hostel is located right next to the U-bahn station and not far from Alexanderplatz, the location itself is very convenient, in a vibrant area with a lot of places to eat. The staff were nice, and there were a lot of activities where I managed to meet some cool people from all over the world. The toilets and bathrooms were fairly clean and well-maintained. On the downside, the room for 6 people was quite small and it was really hot in there when all 6 or even 5 were present. But if you opened the window, it just became super loud and even less possible to sleep — the room had its windows right above a rather busy street, and even at night there was constant car noise, honking, trams passing and so on. You could hear it VERY loudly from the 2nd floor. So despite having a comfy bed, I can’t say I have had a good sleep any of the nights I stayed there. When you check in they also give you a voucher for a free beer in their own basement brewery. That was cool, but the sample glass is SO small, like 100ml? I expected it to be a full size drink to be honest:) Still, the brewery is really nice.

I have seen many hotels in Berlin and this one is by far the cleanest/most hygenic one! Especially now during Corona times, they literally send their cleaning team to sanitize door handles etc. every hour and they have a full no-contact check-in and check-out system that works by a telephone service that is always there for you. The cozy rooms and excellent location at Rosethaler Platz makes the stay just perfect. A secret tip: ask for one of their ”signature rooms”, created by local Berlin artists (no additional costs charged). Definitely a recommendation for everyone!
