I've been visiting The Cavern for the past 30 years of my life and with all the twists and turns that time gives us, the Cavern has stayed a constant that doesn't change. This is still one of the best holiday experiences you can have in the Berg. The very dedicated family looking after this gem for generations now, in my mind, has succeeded in creating something very elusive in our day and age, namely peace and tranquility.

We loved our stay at the Cavern , our accommodation was lovely we got upgraded which was really nice , food excellent , there was not one meal we did not enjoy ,all staff were friendly ,and the wine cellar is a dream for people who enjoy their wine ,with very good prices . If you want to relax comfortably lounges , amazing games room for playing bridge cards etc .

We had a lovely time with the kids. Lots to do for the whole family, lovely hikes,horse outrides,games ,tennis courts and friendly staff. The rooms are clean,but basic.no mini bar to place cold drinks.lovely views of the mountains. Relaxing atmosphere.the food was fairly good but meal times felt rushed. There is a specific allocated time for meals(eg dinner 630 to 8pm) so the mains would arrive even before the starter was finished.Wholesome family experience,but certainly not a luxurious getaway.

We had the best time at The Cavern....can't wait to go again and bring family and friends. It was our nephews "family-moon" and everyone had the best time together and had enough time to ourselves going on walks, bird watching, etc.

Had a really great stay at Cavern resort. 5 nights. Beautiful setting, very friendly staff. Meals were very high quality - not the usual 'hotel meals'. Lots of activities to do too, even for the odd rainy day. Did long walks every day, mostly with Cavern guides. Can't recommend Cavern too highly.

As visitors from the Netherlands we have - every five years or so - irregularly visited The Cavern since sometime in the 1980's. In that time it has grown slightly bigger, developed just as South Africa has developed - and yet, after all these years, it remains an amazing place for a unique holiday.

The Cavern is a beautiful property tucked into a secluded valley. At the time we visited (late summer) there were waterfalls coming down the cliffs in all directions. Food was excellent and staff helpful. Daily activities including guided hikes in the surrounding hills and horseback rides. Evening wine tasting and organized activities were also available while we were there. The spa overlooks a wooded valley and a rushing river; the massage we got there was among the best we ever had. To access nearby activities a car is really required. Royal Natal National Park and the famous Amphitheater and Tugela Falls are just in the next valley, but take 30-40 min to drive to. Golden Gate Highlands National Park is worth a visit (1 hr away) as is the town of Clarens with a lot of nice art galleries (1.5 hrs). We are not normally repeat visitors to resorts, preferring instead to explore new locations, but this one might be different. Really lovely spot.
