I travelled here on my own for the West Ham game - perfect location for me near the train station and in a lovely street near the middle of town. I think I had the superior room which was plenty big enough. Spacious actually. Great service from the staff would recommend.

On 16 and 17 February, I was here with my wife for two nights, this hotel has 4 stars, a mystery of where they have them. The room (which was in a building on the side of the main building) was small, poorly maintained, not well cleaned and obeyed. There is a folder on the room about a kind of cousin guarantee and service with different types of cousins, but if you ask for it, the staff will not understand what this folder does on the rooms. All kinds of kisses they have already been on the bed, and this bed is on the gentle side, so I will come out with my back the next morning. The drink card contains a lot of different beer types but only 2 are available. Also from breakfast you should not imagine too much, it is a running buffet with a few breads and breads, egg, spoon 2 types of cheese, 3 types of meat bag and a few cucumbers of pineapple cheese and jam. You must be in the row for a cup of coffee and often stand in the row to wait 5 minutes before your turn. However, it must be said that the staff is very friendly, helpful and understandable. The staff is the only one that meets the number of stars, and my question is: Who gives those stars? I think it can't even be able to be in the better regions for three stars, but four stars are still left. The main building looks good outside, but it remains an old building with a lot of maintenance.

We stayed in the hotel part. Which is a separate building from the hostel. The whole thing felt a bit like a tourist trap although the staff was really friendly. I suggest to take your breakfast at a cafe elsewhere, where you can get better for less. + Clean room + City centre location + Authentic building - Tiny room - Noisy city centre location - Small 140cm bed - shower curtain, bleh - no AC, no fan, so needed to sleep with an open window.

The layout of the hotel is very beautiful, very connected. The restaurant tastes great, and most local friends drive over from Amsterdam for dinner. A large party in the evening, many locals enjoyed it. There is also an area for children to entertain. In short, it is very caring.

We booked for a 4 night stay in Alkmaar for July 2019. We are a family of 2 adults and one child. After booking directly on the hotel's website, I emailed to request a bed for my son. I was told that I would need to upgrade my room in order to be permitted an extra bed. So we were duly upgraded and also charged extra for my son's bed. We paid over 700 euros and this did not include breakfast. Breakfast was 14 euros extra for adults and kids ate free. We decided against paying extra for the breakfast and went to a local bakery that charged €6.50 for a sit down breakfast (tea/coffee, bread, croissants, jam, ham, cheese and butter). I think that for what they charged, they have a cheek expecting us to then pay extra for breakfast! When we arrived in our room (room 201) at approximately 1600hrs, the child bed was in the process of being made (why was it not done earlier in the day?). It was clear that the room had not been vacuumed as there was dust and bits of dirt on the floor. It finally was vacuumed 3 days later when I pestered reception about it. I stupidly assumed that the chamber maid would actually see the state of the carpet and vacuum it without prompting. Prior to arriving, I had emailed the hotel to request a kettle in our room. There was no kettle on arrival and when I asked the chambermaid, her response was ”I am housekeeping and this is nothing to do with housekeeping so you will have to speak to the manager”. I also asked for an extra cup as there were only two. same response again. So I went down to reception and they were helpful and brought the mug and kettle to the room. I couldn't call them as the phone in the bedroom didn't work. There was a Senseo coffee machine I the room and the chamber maid had not even noticed that there was a used coffee pad in it from the previous occupants. The chamber maid provided no coffee pads for the machine. One of the roller blinds was broken and so we could not open or close it. It was also very frayed and tatty. I reported it the next day to reception and it was replaced with a brand new one that we could open and close. There were no hooks anywhere near to the sink, so we had to hang our towel on the hairdryer cable and then realised we could use a coat hanger hung too. We were in an attic room and the velux blinds and the windows could only be opened and closed by standing on a chair. The bottom bed sheets were too short for the bed and there was about 5cm of the mattress showing at the bed head, where my pillow was. Why????? After our first night, the chambermaid removed our extra mug and left us back with two again, so I wandered off back to reception to request our mug back. Why did she feel that we were not permitted an extra mug?? Two days after our arrival, housekeeping finally decided that they would provide us with coffee pads for the coffee machine. My big concerns were a lack of fire doors. So if a fire started on one floor, it would just spread up the staircase and onto

We loved our stay at Zaan Hotel. Fantastic location. It is just opposite to the train station, from where you can access trains to the airport, Amsterdam and various other destinations. The train to Amsterdam is only about 12 minutes ride. The train to the airport is only 3 stops away and about 18 mins ride. There is a fairly large supermarket opposite the hotel. It being in the heart of Zaandam, has several cafes, restaurants and beautiful shops as well as high street stores extremely nearby. We had a great time walking around the shopping street and also got to enjoy local Dutch food at the cafes. The hotel location is EXCELLENT in one word. Fairytale place is how we would describe Zaandam. We were very happy with the service at the hotel too. Our comfort family room was spacious. The fridge in the room is very useful. Our rooms were cleaned everyday and toiletries replenished. The staff were very helpful. All areas of the hotel are very well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was lovely too and so was the dinner. We would strongly recommend this hotel to everyone planning a trip in the Netherlands.
