The best hotel on Senja Island. The manager and staff are very welcoming. The breakfast is rich and you can see the beautiful scenery when you go out. I stayed in a two-bedroom suite, and I could take pictures from the living room window. There was a small cabin not far from the hotel downstairs, which was very suitable for chasing the aurora. The room is very warm, the bathroom facilities are complete, the space in the bedroom is relatively small, and the bed is also very narrow (it seems to be similar in Northern Europe). Overall, I am very satisfied.

Yes, but the hot spring is in name only. I bought a swimsuit for it after seeing the promotion, but when I actually arrived, I didn’t want to soak in it at all. Also, most of the breakfast was taken away before it was time, and the waiter spoke loudly.

Although not staying in the actual hotel (we had hired one of the adjacent cabins for four nights), we did hire two bikes from the hotel's resident activity centre, and had a fantastic day out. We had made initial enquiries via email the week prior to establish availability, and although we were assured there would be a couple of bikes available, we were really keen to ensure we could hire a couple so as soon as we could drop into the office, we did so to bag a couple for a couple of days later. There does seem to be a risk that if you pitch up on the day, there might be an element of disappointment involved. All bikes are electric, are available from about 0900, and come fully charged. We paid NOK1190 for two bikes until 10PM, which we considered really good value. All bikes come with lights, a single (large) pannier affixed to a rack, a combination lock in addition to the fixed rear wheel lock, and a helmet. There are no water bottle holders so water bottles have to go into the pannier. There aren't many routes available. We went north, as far as Bøvær with its marvellous beach. We didn't use electric on the way out, but did for the long climb from Bergbotn until we were clear of the tunnel. So we had tons of charge left. And we had a great day out!

This seems to be the best place in Senja if looking for a base with a great restaurant, beautiful setting, multiple activities to participate in , or to just chill in the hot tubs. What separates it from the other places we stayed, was the conscientious staff that wanted to ensure we had a pleasant experience. Particularly, Peter, who welcomed us at the reception desk and fretted over whether or not we would make the ferry the next day. The hotel offers a shuttle service to get your car in line the night before, but we opted for a shower instead. Peter was as happy as we were when he saw us in line the next morning, in a position that ensured we would make the first Ferry - that’s genuine service!

We didn't plan far in advance for our trip and ended up with booking an economy room, and it was really small. However, the terrace lounge, location and staff more than made up for it. Since we only needed a place to sleep, it was sufficient. The breakfast was decent, typical continental style. The dinner at the restaurant was understandbly expensive for an 'ok' quality.

Anyone traveling to the hotel via the ferry from Andenes should be aware that you need to arrive hours before the ferry leaves to get in line. There is no indication from the hotel or anywhere on line that we found that the ferry often cannot take every car in line. We were unable to get on the 5:00 ferry and had to spend the night in Andenes and miss one of the two nights we booked at the Hamn I hotel. When I told the hotel manager that the hotel really should advise guests of that risk or else they will have unhappy customers who pay for unused rooms, she replied that the hotel gets paid upfront so it’s no loss to the hotel if a guest doesn’t arrive as scheduled. That attitude sort of sums up the Hamn I hotel staff. Not exactly legendary service but a nice facility without a lot of competition in the area.

We had a first-floor one-bedroom twin bed suite which was spacious and light. The view from the apartment was fantastic and the terrace was a pleasant space to sit out. The area is quiet and peaceful, and the apartment was very private, with nothing overlooking the window or the terrace. Beds were comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There were dirty dishes left in the dishwasher on our arrival. We subsequently discovered the dishwasher wasn't working. The rattan furniture on the terrace was in poor condition and there were no bedside tables, even though there was plenty of room. For some reason we needed to use the key to open the door from the lounge to the bedroom. None of this detracted from what was a very peaceful, enjoyable stay.
