Everything is just perfect , from the arrival welcome drinks and the staff are nice. The Onsen is also beautiful.
One thing is not good is the flashing on top of the ceiling is quite annoying for people who don’t like any light during sleep. If it can be improve, say can switch off during night time. Probably it’s a perfect hotel for family vacation!

I made a reservation after checking 2 adults and 2 children when making a reservation, but upon arrival, an unexpected child fee + bathing tax of 6,282 yen was charged, so please keep that in mind if you are traveling with children. Parking is free, the garden hot springs were closed, and the African safari was 15 minutes away.

There was no personal heating when I slept, so it was very tiring. The monsoon was strong and I was shivering all night. It was so cold that my condition suddenly deteriorated, and breakfast wasn't to my liking either.
A place I wouldn’t recommend for other cost-effective hotels ㅠ.ㅠ

The hotel has a free parking lot, which is easy to find next to the main road. The staff is very polite and patiently explains how to use the hot spring facilities. Dinner and breakfast are traditional Japanese cuisine set meals, which are enjoyed in a separate room in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant staff are also very polite and patiently answer our questions. They also took photos for us and gave them to us when we checked out. The food quality is very good. . There are public baths and 4 private baths in Shadian, all of which are free of charge. Free beer and coffee are provided, which is great! Will stay again next time!

The hotel's service is very good.
We stayed for 3 nights including breakfast and dinner.
The restaurant is excellent.
It's super delicious.
The beef is excellent and the special order service is also excellent.
The shabu shabu service was fantastic and the whole family was satisfied.
However, additional fees apply for children regarding restaurant use and lodging.
I paid an additional 570,000 won and was angry on the first day, but I calmed down after dinner. It's such a great restaurant and service.
The location is near Beppu IC and there are family baths nearby, so there are many places to go nearby.
Safari is close and the ropeway is close as well.
Renting a car is essential and public transportation is difficult.
This lodging is worth recommending just for the snow crab and beef alone.

I recently stayed at Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff’s warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and relaxed. The ryokan is set in a beautiful, serene location, surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful retreat from daily life.
The room was spacious and tastefully decorated in traditional Japanese style, blending modern comforts with authentic charm. The private onsen attached to my room was a highlight, allowing me to unwind in soothing hot springs while taking in the picturesque views.
What truly sets Kannawaen apart is the attention to detail and personalized service. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect, making me feel truly cared for throughout my stay.
If you’re looking for a luxurious, tranquil getaway with impeccable service and a true Japanese experience, I highly recommend Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan. It’s a place we would love to visit again.

We were assigned to a room in the east wing on the 5th floor. When we got up to watch the sunrise, we could also see the sea. It was really great. The location was very convenient. There was a station next to it that went directly to Yufuin and Beppu stations. The service staff are also very nice. The hot springs here are very comfortable. There are rooftop ones with sea views and outdoor ones on the first floor. They are both great. It is recommended to go downstairs at night and get up in the morning to go to the rooftop to soak in the hot springs and watch the sunrise😜
The hotel is very close to the Sea Hell, Mud Hell, White Hell and Ghost Hell on foot... They are all next to each other, and it feels good to see smoke everywhere.
Free family bath and jigoku mushi ("hell steaming") workshop
GGuest User2024.03.16
The hotel is very good, room is clean and tidy, individual onsen is excellent.
The only point is the location will be a little bit far for travellers without cars, as hotel is on a hill slope, you will need to spend some efforts to go up, but the hotel quality worths this effort.

This time I brought my parents to experience Beppu Onsen. On the first day, I chose Sansuikan located in Kannawa, and I was very satisfied with it overall. First of all, the transportation is a bit far from Beppu Station. I took a taxi and it cost 💲2700. After all, I was with an old man and a suitcase. I booked a sea view room, which included dinner and breakfast. The dinner dishes were good, and what I remember most was their waiter. Although he was a little old, he was very responsible and dedicated to his work. Knowing that I don't know Japanese, she not only used English words and gestures to introduce each dish and how to eat it, but also specially found a ********* student to help translate it sentence by sentence. Thank her very much for letting us enjoy each dish in the right way. The view in the room is good, overlooking the sea in the distance and the characteristic smoking manhole cover of Beppu up close. I went to soak in the hotel hot springs on the 1st and 6th floors. The environment is very good. There is a large pool outdoors on the 1st floor, and the landscape is also good. The outdoor pool on the 6th floor is the kind of one-on-one-one-one-soup for one person. I like it very much.

The hotel is located next to the Tielun bus stop, which is only a 1-minute walk away. After visiting the 5 hells, you can take a bus to the Blood Pond Hell at the bus stop. The hotel is on a small hill, so you have to climb a small hill, which is not a big problem. The hotel is basically a series of independent cottages. We stayed in a room with a private bath this time. The hotel staff did not speak English well, so we basically communicated through a translator. There was free beer and drinks available 24 hours a day next to the front desk. The room was quite large, with a high ceiling and very comfortable. The private bath could adjust the temperature by itself. The dinner was sushi food taken out by the hotel, which was quite rich. The hotel does not provide breakfast, but you can get it at the 7-11 opposite. Overall, it is very cost-effective and you can give it a try.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThe room is quite big, except that the pillow is a bit hard😂 It costs 1350 yen to take a taxi from Beppu. Someone will pick you up as soon as you get off the car. The staff is very enthusiastic. The hotel has a new building, Tsukijisang, and an old building, Qiujisang. The one I stayed in was the old building. When I went there, the staff carried my luggage up. When I checked out, the staff also carried the last staircase down. They were so polite that I felt embarrassed! Every dish for dinner will be introduced. The wagyu beef is very delicious, but the breakfast is not very appetizing😁! For soup, there are four private soups and two public baths, separated by men and women! If you don't want to live near the JR station, you can consider staying here!
Oonlywinxit's a small homey inn, amazing for cat lovers. you get to spend 1h in a room full of super friendly cats. their homemade breakfast and dinner is delicious and very filling - you even get to eat next to another room of cats!
the only downside is the location, which is 1 short train station (comes every 40mins) away from beppu station. it's a bit in the residential area, and the walk from higashibeppu station can get a bit quiet and dark, but overall still a great place to stay!
KKaijenThis Super Hotel thoroughly represents ESG and its night bar and breakfast make it an exceptional experience.
Although the twin bed room is quite small and not friendly for 2 person luggage to be opened.
HHiu Wai, Peggy ChauI was worried because there are many bad reviews. It turned out it wasn't that bad, though I doubt if it is worth the high price overall. The location is good, conveniently located near Kitahama bus service centre and Beppu Station. Locating the entrance is a challenge, especially when you are with luggage. The hotel staff a nice, but I can picture that if you dun speak a bit of Japanese, it might be a bit hard to communicate with the staff.
The overall environment is nice, clean room and nice private onsen bath. A curtain is appropriate in the balcony for more privacy. It is a bit dark, both inside the room and in the corridor.
Dining is nice, great food. know it's a common practice to have set time for dinner and breakfast, but as a first time visitor to Oita, the 5:30pm dinner time was too early for me. However, the 7:30pm was fully booked on my first day of visit. Breakfast started at 7:30 and it's too late for me to catch the train so I can visit Harmonyland. There could be more flexibility for dining options and time, considering the high price guests are charged.
There are many activities and I love the outdoor footbath and the free coffee and tea service at the travelers' library.
I would still recommend the hotel to visitors to Beppu.
QQiao YingI’m so glad that this hotel had a renewal earlier this year. It looks very new and clean now. It also has a fantastic location — only a 3-minute walk from Beppu Station and it is surrounded by numerous shops and restaurants. The huge Beppu Don Quijote is only 10 minutes away by foot. Luggage can also be stored at the cloak room for free before check-in. The onsen and sauna was very clean too! I had a really comfortable stay at this hotel.
AAO AO AOLocated right on top of a hill.
Seaview is pretty far from hotel room... Thus nothing much to see anyway.
As the Onsen is actually a bathtub attached to the inroom shower, the sulphur smell is very strong alike rotten eggs.
Stayed for one night and is a good experience.
AAnonymous Usergood value for money! would definitely stay again
location: it's relatively further from the station , around a 8-10min walk. there is a 7-11 just around the corner
room: my room came without a bathroom but for the ladies are 3 cubicles shared among the 7 mix gendered guests on the floor. i did not have to wait in line at all. there was more than enough space in the room to open my suitcase wide and still feel comfortable. bed and pillow was a bit hard though, and you can hear anyone talking loudly downstairs outside the building as the room is on 2nd floor, tho that doesnt happen very often.
food: amazing balanced breakfast that changes everyday - really delicious!
onsen: the one on 2F was smaller than 1F, but very good and comfortable. clean too. you can book a private onsen room for 500yen (50mins)
staff: all of them were super friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. there are english-proficient staff available 24H as well :)
GGuest UserQuite a old hotel, reasonable price and environment, the breakfast here is quite nice, but the staffs in the reception counter cannot speak English and only give me some information catalogues in Korea.
The location is good and convenient to go to the Youme mall which is the best shopping centre there.
PPanchanThe location is close to Jr station, cleanness but I have a bit problem to get jn the hotel coz no staff at this hotel and everything have to do by yourself
GGuest UserIt is an old ryokan.
The bathroom also needs to be equipped with hot and cold water.
The size of the room is satisfactory.
It's very cold, but you can control the heater.
Although it is a weekend, the price is too expensive and you have to pay a 1000 yen hot spring tax even if you do not use the hot spring when you check out.
