The Martz Farm is a dream come true for me. Created and run by quite possibly the coolest couple I’ve met, this off the grid self-sustained paradise is absolutely mind blowing. This beautiful jungle environment is complimented by thoughtful design and construction, making it a serious treat for 2 nights. I was lucky enough to stay both the tree house and big family suite. Showers were hot (all water on the premise was rain capture!) and the internet was pretty fast (all electricity is solar!) I begrudgingly left after our stay but will definitely be back again!

I know writing a review will not do justice to the experience we had while visiting the Martz Farm. We spent 4 magical days in the jungle. You arrive as strangers and leave as friends. Our trip to Belize was our first international travel experience with our children, who were 8, 4 and an 8 month old baby. We couldn't have been happier with the adventures we went on and the experiences we had. Miriams cooking was amazing, and she graciously accommodated a food allergy for us. I think one of the best parts about eating there was that I never had to think about it and delicious food would just appear at meal time! The place we very well kept, and you can see all the time, love, care and pride they have put into their property! They have done so much work over the years to build it to what it is today. We stayed in one of the family rooms, which was perfect for us because it had electricity and the bathrooms right there, but I would have gladly stayed in any of the rooms! The treehouse looked truly magical! We went swimming in the stream, hiked through the jungle and saw so many fun plants and animals. Joe took us to Xunantunich, the Mayan ruin, and took us on a private guided tour. Great experience all around and it's not too far from the farm so made it a good trip for our family. We also spent a day on the pontoon boat, probably my favorite part of the trip. We explored the jungle and visited waterfalls and had an amazing meal grilled right on the boat. My kids were in heaven and I think they will always remember their journey on the boat. What a unique and wonderful experience! Your trip to their farm will be one you will never forget but it's the people who really make the place. Joe and Miriam are genuinely wonderful people who love to share their culture and land with others and we feel lucky that we got to spend a few days with them. The memories my kids have may fade over time but I believe they will always remember the kindness they were shown while we were there. They often talk about "Uncle Joe" as they so deemed Joe by the end of our trip. Thank you again for the wonderful time!

It was an escape from everything and everyone, but close adventurous friends. Those of us who live a life on-the-go and just want an escape, this was the perfect place to do so. Miriam and Joe made us all feel at home upon arrival. With their delicious home cooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the beautifully moon-lit sky, the sounds of the waterfall crashing near us, the sounds of nature chirping, buzzing and neighing all around us, and the chill of the calm forest night, Martz Farm Treehouse and Cabañas is a paradise in and of itself. I would highly recommend it for those who seek to live life off the grid every once in a while.

We stayed in the treehouse and our two teens loved sleeping right by the rushing river for three nights! Miriam was welcoming, flexible and helpful, cooked delicious meals, and gave us great advice for activities in the area. Our float down the river on the amazing hand-built pontoon boat, with Jo showing us wildlife, waterfalls and teaching us some of the natural, cultural and social history of the area, was a key highlight of our vacation. Everything was spotless and well-kept, and all of our needs were taken care of. The pets and farm animals were a delight, and the visit was a perfect combination of freedom to do what we wished along with meeting new people and connecting with the family and other travellers. I would 100% return here on a future trip to Belize.

We can't say enough good things about Martz Farm and about Miriam, Joe, their kids, horses, dogs, and cats ! Our family of 4 had an amazing, once in a lifetime, experience. We stayed 3 nights in the family suite in the main building. Our rooms were extremely spacious and clean. We spent hours lounging in the many hammocks around the property and playing with the dogs. Miriam's cooking is top top notch and we learned so much about Miriam and Joe, as well as about the local area and Belize. Joe and his kids took us on several excellent excursions to visit Mayan ruins, riding horses through their pastures and the jungle, and a day-long trip on their huge riverboat pontoon. We hiked up waterfalls and swam in freshwater pools both on the boat trip and on property at the farm. We would definitely love to return to Martz Farm. The kids are still sad to have left their oasis in the jungle.

My friends and I did the horseback riding with Martz Farm. They were the most accommodating people I've ever met. Marina picked us up from town and drove us to the farm. When we arrived to the farm the horses were saddled and ready to go. Joe took us up the hills through the forest to some of the most beautiful views. He taught us about the flowers and animals along the way. He's so full of knowledge about the land and it was an unforgettable experience. The horses were so well taken care of that I wish I was one of them. I wished I knew about this place before I booked my hotel because I could have stayed here forever!

I had a life-changing experience visiting Martz Farm. We wanted to go horseback riding in the jungle and were recommended to Martz by an American ex-pat. Miriam picked us up at the border town and drove us out. It is so obvious Miriam and Joe (the owners) love what they do. We got to hear Miriam's amazing life story on the drive and how she came to Belize, and she is incredibly knowledgeable. Their property is in the jungle, and there's a stream right by one of the treehouses. We were each given the perfect horse that matched us, and Joe took us out into the jungle. He takes time to explain all the parts of the property and his family's history there. He stopped at certain points to show us breathtaking views and show us local plants (allspice, mint, etc). We went to a spot overlooking their lake and the view is something you only ever see in movies. His knowledge of the land, history, and culture is expansive. I can honestly say Joe changed my life with his explanations, poetry, and life experience. (BTW it is worth the money to be picked up by Miriam or Joe and brought out to their location - the drive and terrain are difficult, and if you don't have the right vehicle it will be tough drive)

Stayed at Martz Farm with British Scouts in July. Miriam and Joe went out of their way to accommodate our group including special dietary needs. It's a very special location, away from everything in the middle of the jungle, the sights and sounds are magical. We enjoyed free time relaxing in the creek and a boat trip on "Waterlilly" including a delicious BBQ. I think for many this was the highlight of our trip, and I am sure some of us will return for a second visit! Joe and Miriam's local knowledge of the flora, fauna and wildlife added to the experience.
