Well there are good and bad points to this hotel. Good points, it’s cheap, location is good for tapas, bars and the promenade. The breakfast is good, shower had good water pressure, we got clean towels daily, bed was comfy. Bad points. Room number 60 had a bathroom that stank to high heaven. It caught the back of your throat. We had to open window to the room and the bathroom door to clear the air temporarily. But getting up for a toilet visit in the night, it was hold your breath time. Bathrooms are very old, with black grout/sealer and shower curtain in place of shower door. The bedroom floor felt sticky. Room 60 is also next to the decrepit lift, which serves not only hotel guests, but rooftop bar. Very noisy. My sister had room 22. Mid afternoon, she was in her room and two newly arrived guests came in, with a key card for room 22. So my sister told them no, this is my room until tomorrow. She went to reception to ask what was going on, to be told there was confusion between two rooms. It was sorted now. Back to her room, to have the door opened again by the receptionist and cleaner, checking which rooms were occupied or not! Very unprofessional and unsettling. Especially if she hadn’t been in her room. The safe code is on a sheet at reception and there’s no process to then change it, so if your valuables are in the safe and they make these types of mistakes, your valuables are not safe. For whatever reason, the receptionist who also served breakfast, took a dislike to my husband, even though they’d never met or spoken before. She was very efficient, but very curt and had no pleasantries. First breakfast, the room was busy. Guy along from us asked for a second coffee, he got it. My husband asked for one. “No,I need the table, we are busy, you can go sit outside on the terrace I’ll get you one” Erm, it was raining and the outside furniture was wet! So we left, but the safe wouldn’t open, I came straight back downstairs. Another guy who was near where we’d sat was just requesting his second coffee. Didn’t seem to be a problem. There were empty tables too. She spoke to me like I was an imbecile. “You pressed to numbers and enter, right?” Yes I pressed the numbers, there is no enter, it should just open. So an engineer came and fixed it. This morning, breakfast, just tea, coffee and toast. So we had a little jug of milk. Table next to us asked her for milk for his tea. She gave him my milk jug! Then my husband dared ask for another coffee. “You will have to give me time, I’m busy” she didn’t make it, she only had to ask the guy behind the bar. So we waited, eventually got the coffee, with a bill for 1.80€! We didn’t see anyone else billed for an additional drink. Attached photo, some dodgy wiring by the headboard in room 22.
