Azura Benguerra Island

Absolutely Brilliant! We came here primarily to go deep sea fishing as a special birthday present. But the whole trip was fabulous. The service was impeccable from being met at the airport and being whisked away by Dusty in a helicopter and taken through to Olivia, Nelson, Amos and the Team on the Island all throughout our sadly too brief of a stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone always had a smile on their face. Despite it being nearly full moon we caught and also released, fish : King mackeral (the most delicious), Giant Trevally, Jobfish, Blue fin King fish, Yellow fin & Skip jack tuna, Bonnito, missed landing several wahoo and saw Sail fish flying through the air blowing raspberries at us! We did not catch “The Big One” but we had fun nonetheless. Paulo and Ignacio did a great job. Despite on some days the sea having large swells and on the worst day the swell was around 1.9m but we went through “the Washing Machine” to see a couple of very early season whales on the other side! In the big swells glimpses of them and their huge water droplets spouts out of their head vent and then a leap into the air and humongous splash! Magical. This was the day we also a good many rainbows, we missed the downpour at the Lodge and we saw a Brown skua. According to the Field Guide to the Birds of Africa phone App it was 612 km out of range. It came and flew around us right at the boat. Paolo had seen the bird before and said if you put fish there the bird would take it, though when Ignacio moved to do so the skua flew off. Getting a good photo was tricky in the waves – a bit of the bird and a bit of the boat, then the waves and then the bird! Many thanks to Frank Willems of Birding Zambia for help with the ID. We were lucky to see Dugong (a big thank you to Solfigo and Alex) and turtles each day except one and hundreds of Greater Flamingoes. The dolphins though were outstanding. We had never seen so many, on one day well over 100 in the pod, all around us on and off all morning. They were hunting, tail fins slapping the water, small groups of dolphin with dorsal fins peeping out of the waves; then others at a tangent to those. Leaps out of the water : even tiny dolphin, with dolphin coming right under the bow of the boat as well. My photos are not National Geographic standard but we had fun watching their antics. Our Host, Pedro, did a grand job and was even standing on the beach to meet us off the boat daily with a tray and drinks! Dinner was either on the beach or in secluded crannies. Our Beach villa was always clean and the cookie jar full of cookies which were raided every day and taken fishing with us! Isabel did good (and the Chef’s). The plunge pool – Imagine – our own pool and right outside our villa, looked invitingly Blue, but the water was too chilly. We were a few steps to the sands and at high tide, the lapping waves. We even saw dolphin cruising through the water right in front of us at the Lodge whilst

Absolutely incredible! Obviously it is paradise but besides the most beautiful surroundings in nature and the immaculate accommodation the people of Azure, every single staff member made our stay so special and absolutely memorable! The food was on par with and even better than some michelin restaurant experiences, well done to the entire team! You are all so special and made our stay truly amazing down to the finest detail of little messages on our butter or on the bed at turn down, absolutely incredible!!! ❤️

This place is a little piece of heaven. Attentive staff. Exceptional service. Our expectations were met and exceeded from the minute our helicopter touched down at the resort. The food was amazing. Fresh. Tasty. Lots of choices. And the views. Wow. We enjoyed the 4x4 island tour. The sand dune climb gave 360 degree views! We snorkelled at 2 mile reef and it was literally an underwater aquarium. The ladies at the spa worked magic. We felt pampered and special our whole stay.

The most outstanding place in heaven, filled with magical staff that can’t do more to make your day complete. Nothing is too much effort. The person who takes care of you. Who in our case with Edgar- was so attentive and absolutely exceptional. Creating a whatzapp group so every need can be fufilled. We will be back!

Following the answer to my comment from Mr.BUISSA i can’t reply directly so I ll write here to everyone to be able to understand the situation . Dear MR.BUISSA Thank you for your response and for the efforts made to address my concerns during my recent stay and unfortunately there is any option in trip adviser to reply your response . I appreciate the options that were offered, including the room change and alternative accommodations. However, due to specific reasons at the time, which are absolutely out of your business here, I chose to remain at the room . To answer the hôtel change option better to mention that the price was even higher and due to some review we were not sure to have a better condition. While I did participate in some activities, I would like to mention that all the activites were paired by ourself except the “dune aperitif” and my initial concerns regarding the room condition significantly impacted my overall experience. I acknowledge that your team specially John the guest manager made efforts to resolve the situation, and I appreciate that. All the staff were absolutely lovely However, I still feel that the issues I encountered were not fully addressed to my satisfaction. And very disappointed of the reaction of the hotel manager, Mr.SANCHEZ who was more in competition to show off how many 5 stars hotel he had been . I think you should have looked better and closer at all the photos ( you can find them again in attachement in case) before answering my comment. Your answer is more like denying the problem. You seem to not have any commitment regarding your guests and I m pretty sure that the minister of tourism in Mozambique ll have the same opinion after seeing all the pictures and videos that I have. Thank you once again for your understanding, and I look forward to hearing from you if there are any further steps that can be taken.

This was the perfect last stop on our southern africa adventure! The island is beyond beautiful and the change between high tide to low defies logic and provides for unlimited exploring along the beach. Our girls absolutely loved this part of the trip and the freedom to swim in our own private pool or the few steps out to the warm Indian Ocean. The rooms were amazing and felt very private and natural. We enjoyed a few outings like horseback riding on the famous rescued horses, snorkeling, a Douh sunset cruise and an island drive. All of the staff was so hospitable and totally spoiled us. The variety of food and drinks was amazing too and the private beach dinner on our last night was incredibly memorable. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for an incredible beach getaway!

It’s heaven on Earth with Heavenly people and service on top. Just perfect. The excursions found us looking at Whales, snorkelling and Diving with Rays, Sharks and Turtles. Walking endlessly empty beaches and star gazing. Sun sets galore and to die for. You have to just go

What an incredible little paradise. The food, the staff, our host Bernardo, the activities, the scenery! All absolutely unreal! We did whale watching and went on the island drive, we also watched a local soccer game arranged by the team. We loved getting to learn about the locals, and even love that so many of the locals are staff - speaking to them and hearing how their lives have been changed because of places like Azura on the island was so encouraging. We had the rainbow fund kids come and do a dance for us one evening, and that was so special. Peri Peri beach club was also really cool! Thank you team Azura for an incredible experience. We can’t wait to be back someday soon!

We had a 5 night honeymoon stay and every aspect exceeded our expectations. The island was beautiful, the accommodation luxurious with breath-taking views and the service was exceptional. We loved our fishing trip and we were wowed with a tasty meal from our haul. The snorkeling was amazing too! We would go back in a heartbeat! It's a magical spot! Highly recommended it!
