MedPlaya Hotel Alba Beach

Benalmadena|0.23km from Bil-Bil Castle
Just returned from Alba Beach (Prev.Balmoral) after staying for 2 weeks. I chose the 7th floor, swimming pool view, rooms are called Superior after re-branding and have a small, useless fridge, tea/coffee facilities. My first stay in Balmoral, those days, was in 2006 and 2007. Since 2013 I travelled solo but more often with my adult son (different rooms). For me the best part to stay in Alba Beach is location: flat space and the beach is just across very busy road from Malaga to Gibraltar. I have legs/knees problems, so it is not hilly. The second half of October’23 - my first visit after summer’23 re-branding. The hotel poor service, skinny food, an army of small ants 24/7 in the room, chasing edible stuff, if you leave it on the table unattended in seconds, they are everywhere, travelling through ventilation, rampaging in the bathroom rubbish bag, etc. I agree with the previous person, who mentioned ants on the 5th floor. It is a disaster for any place but for a 3*** hotel- a shame. I was very careful, packing my suit before checking out. Nobody wants to get ants home back to England. A chambermaid was very rude to me, separating two beds, telling me not to use the other bed, because I stayed on my own. I complained to receptionist, Maria. She said, that I had paid not for 1 bed but for the whole room. The receptionist Angelica had a very rude check in for me: she did not explain what is the other door card/key was for. As it appeared, the spare door card was for keeping it in the slot 24/7 to keep lights on and to provide power for the small fridge. I never came @cross such a system. I complained to the Hotel Director, Victor B. but he was on stuff side and did not take measures to improve service. Very disappointing! Re-branding is not over, so a lot of visual points everywhere with “Balmoral” logo. The T&C of Amigo Loyalty Card has been changed. A room TV still shows old T&C of Amigo Loyalty Card into your face though they have been radically changed. Read them attentively. So, never again to stay in Alba Beach. Bad experience.

Great resort with really friendly staff. Would recommend this resort, the staff in reception and bar/restaurant were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The apartment was newly refurbished and spotlessly clean. The balcony was not overlooked and the apartment had a well equipped kitchen. I can find nothing to complain about this resort. It is positioned close to the beach and there are a number of very nice restaurants nearby. To find them leave the resort from the main entrance walk down towards the beach and turn right. Definitely stay here if you get the chance.

First of all this hotel is a two star hotel. No there is no Aircon in the room. However, the bed is comfortable. The rooms are ensuite and it’s well located for anywhere that you want to go and things you want to do within the town anybody’s complaining about this Hotel really is just tightfisted. It is ideal for the money you pay if you want better quality and there is much better hotels within the town where you could stay. I really enjoyed staying here the staff are friendly and for the money is spot-on. I have no problem, staying here again.

Lovely hotel, very clean and modern apartment. Unfortunately we were located above the ventilation for the laundry/technical room so not a minute day or night that didn't sound like we were next to a factory! We were in room 515 and really this room and the rooms above and below should be blocked off. Not only the constant noise but various smells, some nice....washing, some not so great.....school dinners! We did ask to move rooms immediately but only 2 rooms with small double beds were offered and we liked the large twin beds. Would definitely stay again but only if we could guarantee to be away from the ventilation system. The only other issue... we fancied eating dinner in the restaurant one evening. On arrival, we asked if there were vegetarian options as it's a buffet. The guy told us to go to the snack bar! Overall a great place for a holiday, just not in room 515!

From the first moment that we walked into the hotel we were met by very friendly and polite staff. We were given first class reception. During our stay we could not fault anything about the hotel and especially 'ALL' of the staff, who were impeccable and they should be commended for this. The attention to detail was flawless and we will certainly be returning and recommending to all of our friends.
