Protea Hotel Cape Town Durbanville

So happy I only booked for the one night. When I did checkin I was told that it was impossible for me to have made the booking as they were fully booked already, despite me having prepaid. Eventually got a room. The hotel had a teeny tiny tv with no options. There wasn’t even water left in the room. The room looks like it was decorated in the 90s and never updated. Didn’t even bother with breakfast cause I just wanted to get out. Not what I was expecting at this price point.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Protea Hotel Durbanville, and I can't express enough how wonderful our experience was, thanks to General Manager Shericka and her exceptional team. From the moment we checked in, we felt welcomed and valued. Shericka's attention to detail and genuine care for her guests truly stood out. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, ensuring that every aspect of our weekend was memorable. The restaurant team was particularly fantastic, serving us with warmth and enthusiasm that added a personal touch to our dining experience. We felt seen and celebrated throughout our stay, which made our anniversary even more special. Thank you, Shericka and the entire team, for creating such a magical experience for us. I stayed there for a week. I took my mom for her 70th birthday. It was a very pleasant stay. The hotel was very nice I stayed in the 2 level suite which was amazing. Only thing there is only 1 small tv in the living room. Other than that the food, the staff, the neighborhood, the city I give all a 10/10 I would definitely go back and stay. I will return Berry :)

Review for Hotel My wife and I, along with our son and now wife stayed for 9 nights at the Protea at Durbanville during our stay in Cape Town. Our son got married not far from the hotel. Our daughter in law is the only South African in the group, and we have never traveled outside of the United States. If we could describe one thing that made our stay at this hotel perfect, it would be the staff. We have never been to a hotel that had such friendly staff that Protea at Durbanville had during our stay. From the front desk workers, restaurant staff, to the housekeeping crews, they were all super accommodating and made us feel so welcome. The staff was also super involved in our stay, cheering us on as the wedding day approached and congratulated us on the day. One staff member that really made a difference for us was Vincent. Vincent really took the time to get to know us and we really appreciated his hospitality. The porter was all extremely friendly and helpful. The entire staff and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out so will not name names. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great service and the rooms are awesome! Breakfast is delicious! Good value for money. The only thing I would criticise is the smoke fire alarm going off at 1am when you’re preparing for Two Oceans Marathon! Please service the alarms as well as have emergency procedures in place too. Irrespective of the alarm was activated by mistake or not.
