The location of the hotel is very good. The balcony has a good view of Lake Bled in front of it. The hotel hardware is well maintained. The facilities in the room are complete and there is a kettle. The breakfast is rich and has many choices. It is worth your time.

Stayed for 3 nights in a balcony suite on the top floor. Let me start by saying that this listed hotel has all the romance and old charm of a golden age of travel without feeling dated. The staff were unbelievably friendly, helpful and insightful on making every aspect of your holiday enjoyable, right down to advice on which ATM to use to not get charged (fyi it's one to the left of Devils bar). The room was enormous and spacious with 2 double door to the balcony with 180 views on the waterfront. A lounge area, tea / coffee station with mini bar, large TV, large wardrobe area with safe. Bathroom was classical and spacious with complimentary toiletries. The hotel is only half hour from the airport and a great base from the nearby attractions, lakes and waterfalls. You can walk the lake in non stop in 1 hour 30 and the castle because it's up hill is 45. The hotel does have an indoor spa and saunas , 3 to be precise. The pool although beautiful is uncomfortably cold for my liking...again personal preference and more thermal for after sauna but if want a comfortable swim you might be better off in the lake lol. Interestingly you can use the pool at its sister hotel 5 minutes away, saunas are extra but the pool is heated...ask reception for more details. Breakfast was large and had good variety with sparkling wine and juice on entry, cooked goods are ordered at the table a la'carte style. I can't say enough good things about the hotel and staff and it reminds you why you travel and that special feeling you get when you're in such a place. WiFi is ok, beds are comfy, boat rentals available, room service is brilliant. Just take a look at the photos....you either get that fizz or you don't.

We stayed here for four nights while we fished the Bled area. The location is amazing. View from our lakefront room was spectacular. However, the hotel is beyond dated and the rooms are in real trouble. They are small. Americans... they do have showers in some but you have to request ahead of time. Our room had a leaking AC unit in the ceiling that was rotting the floor. We had to place towel after towel to catch the pooling water. We were warned not to eat dinner there but breakfast was lacking as well. Boat use and dock to get some sun were the best offerings other than location. I hear that they will close soon for a 6 month to 1 year remodel. I hope they get the dining "remodeled" as well. Cannot recommend.

Yes, I agree that the hotel is looking a bit tired, but this is a minor point much outweighed by the positives. The views are to die for (we were in a top floor balcony suite) and did the fact that the balcony doors could have done with a lick of paint cause us an issue - not at all!! All the staff were super friendly and helpful which makes such a difference. The bar areas both inside and out were lovely places to relax, as was the sunbed terrace. We took advantage of the hour's free rowing boat hire which was great fun. We were on half board and thought the food at breakfast and dinner was very good indeed. We also swam in the indoor pool, which was a tad cold but I'm sure it was warmer than the lake! A walk round the lake and a trip to Vintgar Gorge (spectacular) helped us get a bit of exercise to counterbalance the calorie intake. If we are lucky enough to return to Lake Bled we would definitely stay here.

The hotel is a very grand hotel, but it has lots of of its splendour and needs a refresh. We arrived late in the evening and were met by a very helpful receptionist, who was very welcoming and professional. The reception area is by far the grandest part of the hotel. We had a standard lake view room on the third floor. The view from the balcony was nothing short of spectacular, but the room was a little on the small side. The bed was very comfortable, there were plenty of pillows, and two single duvets rather than one double duvet. Given the temperature outside, two single duvets were much better than one double duvet. The bathroom was well laid out with plenty of quality towels, toiletries etc. Both the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the rooms were cleaned every day. Breakfast was a large buffet, but the breakfast room was not directly accessible from the lift, requiring a short walk from the lift and three short flights of steps. The breakfast buffet had a good choice, with a small selection of hot (warm) food from a menu. The menu also offered different coffees other than the stewed coffee on a hot plate. The waiters and waitresses in the breakfast restaurant were a little hit and miss as regards quality. Some you could ask once and the order would be brought complete a few minutes later; others you could tell them what you wanted and then hope for the best. A couple of waiters in particular always seemed to be on a different planet. This hotel advertises and prices itself as a luxury hotel. It is not a luxury hotel. It is comfortable, but there is no air conditioning in the rooms, some facilities at the hotel appeared to be run for the convenience of the hotel and not its guests, such as the bar by the lake which closed around 9.00pm and the inability to get anything other than soft drinks in the lounge after 10.00pm and the swimming pool closing at 6.00pm. Car parking is another issue. Firstly it is chargeable, and secondly, unless you are lucky it is at another hotel, as parking on the hotel’s own site is very limited. You also need to be aware of housekeeping, who will be trying to clean your room at 8.00am in the morning! Around the rest of the hotel there are areas which need a good clean and areas which need a redecoration to deal with the peeling paint. I would say that this is a nice hotel but overpriced.

Grand Hotel Toplice is a grand old hotel. It occupies center stage in Bled. We stayed there two nights and I enjoyed it immensely. We upgraded to a lake view room which also had a terrace and was terrific. The included breakfast was impressive. The free spa was delightful and much needed after a muddy day of walking in the Vintgar Gorge. Plus the staff was totally committed to providing us great service. All in all, a great stay.

You can’t go wrong with this location, directly on the lake with castle views! Staff was very kind. That being said, the hotel is very tired and outdated. If I were to return to Bled, I would stay at their sister hotel down the road as that hotel appears to be renovated.

Stayed with friends at the beautiful Grand Hotel Toplice. The lake view rooms were spacious and offer the best views of lake bled and the castle. From the hotel welcome drink through to the final breakfast the level of service and quality of the food and drinks was fantastic. We loved the spa and made use of the complimentary rowing boat. All in all a great stay we would recommend this hotel without hesitation
