The Dong Fang Hotel was a welcomed surprise. The pictures on the website does not do it justice. The staff was efficient and friendly. We recommend the Dong Fang Hotel to anybody who wish to visit Beijing.

The hotel is really old with interesting history. We lived in a modern building, and the room was fine: spacious, comfortable bed, convenient bathroom. The room was well cleaned, but there were some old stains on the carpet and the smell of cigarettes.
The staff was nice, but didn’t speak English.
The breakfast was very good with a variety of Chinese and European dishes. Once we had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, and it was really nice, definitely recommend.
The location is good, not very far from the subway station, surrounded by hutongs.

We arrived very early in the morning (06:00 - flight) and that was clearly not foreseen (Trip.com does not foresee the possibility to inform the hotel by mail, only by phone, but there is a language barrier). So we had to wait 3 hours before we could check in. Quite tiresome. But at check in the people were very friendly, so ok after all. They also helped us to buy a local SIM card.
The room is quite big and nice with a nice and clean bathroom. Breakfast is good with a big choice of local and European food. The people in the restaurant are friendly and helpful. The hotel is not too far from the subway which is very interesting to visit the different places in Beijing.

Nice hotel to visit Beijing as it is located in city center close to Tian’anmen men and Heaven Palace. Many possibilities to eat in restaurant within 10 minute walk. The service is good and morning breakfast is offering a wide variety of food.

We stayed here a total of 7 nights. This particular stay was over the New Year weekend. Everything was pretty good and comfortable. The Family Room was OK but maybe a bit small for the 5 of us. However, I had expected that. For the price and location to a subway stop it was a good place to stay. The history of the Hotel was also interesting along with the 1918 coffee shop downstairs, it was nice. We would recommend this to others looking for a safe place to stay.

Not as nice room for the $$price, compared to other 3-star hotels we’ve stayed across China.
I got a boutique room which is a seperate part of the hotel, next to the coffee shop which is cute but only opens at 11am!
My room was small but cozy, no block out curtains so bright in the morning.
Breakfast was generally good more variety.
Not much nearby the hotel for Mary’s or restaurants, we asked our guide and then got a duck restaurant which was good.

Our daughter forgot her teddy bear in her room and we called back the day after our departure. We received unbelievable nice and great help from Zhang Guo Hong, front-office-supervisor. Who put a lot of effort in getting us the right email address, to send our homeaddress and ship us the teddy bear sheep. We will be thankful for ever.
It was hard to find a email address on your homepage, that is something you could improve so it is easier for a non-Chinese speaking person to contact you.
