Beihai Haicheng District 5-star Hotels

We had an amazing stay at Shangri La for summer vacation with kids. Hotel is very safe and comfortable to stay with young kids. All staff is dedicated all day and night long to provide the best experience. Hotel and facilities are clean and well maintained. The swimming pool is amazing and kids can spend our on the slide. The beach is just across swimming pool. Breakfast buffet is a perfect mix of Chinese and Western breakfast to satisfy everyone. Dinner buffet is also amazing, including the wide sashimi/sushi/roll bar.

The reception staff is very helpful, although more English-speaking staff would be advisable as most of the staff does not speak English and it is a 5star hotel. I would like to mention Lisa who speaks English and was very helpful, providing useful information regarding hotel facilities, Covid test places and places of interest. Big up to Lisa! The breakfast buffet is okay, but the pastry choice is a bit limited and, generally, it feels that the hotel does not really cater for western guests (mainly Chinese dishes). The buffet lounge is full of light; it is very spacious and facing the seaside, which is great. However, the cleanliness can be improved as the tables and the floor were not cleaned quickly enough, and my table and the floor under it were greasy/dirty. The facilities are quite varied. The pools, gym, tennis court, steam room were used during my stay and they were in good condition. The steam room takes a long time to heat up though. The staff in the gym/swimming pool does not speak English at all. The table tennis room and some other facilities were under maintanace during our stay, so we did not use them. Overall, the hotel has more recreational facilities than most hotels. Well done! Regarding the location, the hotel is on the coast, but the sea is not swimmable there, so you can only enjoy the view. The hotels near the main Silver beach (for example, Crowne Plaza) are considerably more expensive (about 500rmb difference), so a 30-min taxi ride there (costs around 30 rmb one way) still makes the Furama hotel a much more economical option. The sea view from the rooms is very nice! Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and a late checkout was highly appreciated! My rating of the hotel is 4.5.

We have booked a family suite that is more suitable for our second-child family. There are two bedrooms and one living room. The eldest lived alone in the second bedroom on the second floor. The two of us took Erbao to live in the master bedroom and the beds in the two bedrooms. They are all big beds, and this type of apartment really seems to be tailor-made for a second-child family like us. The last time I came to Weizhou Island, I have seen all the scenic spots on the island. This time I mainly brought children to watch whales 🐳. The housekeeper provided by the hotel is very professional, and has made a itinerary for us according to our needs-going to the sea to watch whales, catch crabs in the sea. The hotel helped to book a boat seat for whale watching. It has to be mentioned here. Considering that we are two adults with two children, and Erbao is only three years old, the hotel specially arranged a housekeeper to follow us to the sea. Taking care of the children, we found out that this arrangement was really very thoughtful after we went to sea. When we were watching the whales on the return journey, the sea was windy, and both of us were seasick. Fortunately, a housekeeper took care of the two children for us. The butler took a lot of photos and videos for us when we were whales, and they were very professional (the circle of friends we posted were all taken by the butler), what was even more touching was that the butler saw that we were all seasick and informed the hotel in advance Ginger tea was cooked for us. When we returned to the hotel and entered the room, a pot of warm ginger tea had been delivered to us, which warmed the stomach and heart. The next day, the housekeeper took us to the sea to catch crabs. Under the guidance of the housekeeper, the children quickly learned how to catch crabs. The two children were going to play crazy. It was expected to play for more than an hour. for a whole morning. In terms of other hotel experiences, I have to mention a big contrast from the last time we went to the island. Last time we went to the island, we stayed in three different hotels and B&Bs. We found that there was a common problem, probably because it was an island and the humidity was very high. Great, the bedding and linen of the three stores we stayed in all felt sticky, that is, it was very wet and uncomfortable, but this store did not have this feeling at all. My husband said that maybe it was because of the linen in the new store. For a relatively new reason, I only found out after asking the housekeeper that this hotel has installed a fresh air system and a dehumidification system, and the hardware equipment is good! Will come again next time 😄

The front desk is very nice and welcoming, offered us free breakfasts where you can find a really good variety of food. and added our wechat in case needed any help.
