Good location, in the pedestrian zone of Bayreuth. We came on Monday evening for an overnight stay and were looking forward to a special dinner in a beautiful setting (as per the website) in the hotel's own restaurant. The reception was extremely unfriendly, we didn't even hear a "Grüss Gott". Simply unbelievable... Rooms were OK, good beds with particularly fresh bed linen, very clean. When we wanted to reserve a table for dinner, we were told that the restaurant was closed due to a lack of staff! No such mention on the website... Breakfast was served the next morning, however. No buffet, but "à la carte", a bit strange. We had the impression that they had to save money in this hotel! When it came to paying, we had to deal with the same, somewhat unkempt person as the night before. No good morning, no smile, nothing, not even an answer when we asked her if she had gotten up on the wrong side of the bed! Then we could only pay in cash, the terminal didn't work with a single bank card! No "goodbye" let alone a "bon voyage". We have never experienced that before and it is an absolute no-go for a 4-star hotel.
