My intended booking was at splendid hotel in lugano but once I went there I realised that it was at baveno 😅 ,so I took a taxi for 350 euro to go there . The front desk upgraded my rooms to lake views for 80 euro/night. The gym is for 12 euro /person, the breakfast is about average nothing special. The front desk are nice people but they put an extra service charge for that(optional). The view from the balcony was beautiful.

This is a charming, older style property, generally well maintained and comfortable. I had a pleasant room with a large balcony and a good view of the beautiful lake. The bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned to a high standard on each day of my visit. There was only one power point. Not enough! Breakfast was good. Wifi was unreliable. A supermarket and various restaurants were a short walk away.

I recently stayed at the Splendid as part of a tour group.The accommodation was very good, spacious bedroom, lovely bathroom with plenty of towels and bathrobes, immaculate housekeeping. Overall the hotel has a spectacular position on the shores of Lake Maggiore, having dinner on the Terrace was a lovely experience, food OK, the setting was memorable.Overall the decor is immaculate in that traditional Italian style, if you like modern minimalist, then not for you.The staff I dealt with were efficient but reserved, but that is obviously what the management prefer? I would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel was very nice and clean. The room was very comfortable. The balcony view was lovely. The hotel grounds are beautiful, the garden gate opens to a park that offers a lovely walk to the town. I had read from previous reviewer that everything came with a cost so was mindful of this. The gym was €25/day, the spa was also €25/day. There were issues with keys not working to open the gym and spa. We were there with Viking and I did feel that they were very accommodating to us.

Hotel is a decent value. Old school oppulent rooms. Service is typical Italian: nice, but they will try to cheat you. We ate at the hotel restaurant. They did not provide us with the bill, neither at the restaurant nor when we checked out. Only after I asked, they showed it to me. They overcharged us on the desert and charged us tips as well. They also added "gratuity" to the overall room. We had booked the beauty package (which they generously comped us), but did not tell us that the sauna would be closed for cleaning. They do have a tennis court, which is very nicely situated, but dilapitated.

Just ate at the Restaurant and I only have one word. Woeful!. Stale bread, pre crumbed packet fish deep fried until totally destroyed, boiled veg and not to menu description. They have a version of ravioli that we have never seen or tasted previously. Please don't waste your money or time

Gorgeous hotel with a beautiful view - very well built & maintained - conveniently located in baveno. Nice buffet breakfast. Pleasant front desk employees. Great bar service in the lobby or from outside patio area. Beach loungers facing the water.
