Karpaha Sands

The hotel looks very primising in the pictures, beautiful setting and facilities. Unfortunately we were a bit disqppointed on the way it is managed. It looks like the place is abandoned relying on its own structure and pictures. Pros: - beautiful setting and location, in front of a beautiful beach. - rooms are well done, big bathrooms, nice outdoor area. - faclities have a beautiful decoration, the bar, the restaurant. Cons: - cleaning! The resort has a cleaning issue. To the point that we wrote "clean me" with our fingers on the restaurant toilet mirror, and it was there during our entire stay. Nothing has regular cleaning, spots everywhere, toilets are terrible specialy the poil toilet (see pictures). - bar drinks are not good. We tried many drinks and juices in all the hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka, and this one we had to give up, drink after drink, juice after juice, were not good at all. Also the drink glasse come very very dirty. - bar is beautiful but never had any music during our stay. Its a silent empty place, no one uses it... and the bartender usualy is not there which makes it a ghost place. - service is welcoming but not prepared. For example before you reach the breakfast area upstairs they ask you: "what do you want for breakfast? So i dont have to go upstairs to ask", overall staff is tired, not motivated and have no training, they are as abandoned as the hotel. - spa was closed during our entire stay, because the lady had days off. So we booked a hotel with a Spa that did not exist...you have to be lucky not to book on her days off. - when at check-out i tried to tell them the place have lots of potential but they need to pay attention to this details they just replied: thank you for your stay, please make us a review on tripadvisor! So they just don't pay attention... which is sad to see. I wish they could change the management and have someone motivated and energic to transform the place into the best hotel in Sri Lanka, because they could be.

We spent a month in Sri Lanka & absolutely loved our 4 night stay at Karpha Sands . The location is remote with no other hotels in sight - it added to its’ appeal that the area was not crowded or commercial . It was fascinating to watch the local fisherman haul in their catches on the beach right in front of us . The water in the ocean was too rough for swimming when we were there - but with the lovely large swimming pool who needs the ocean . Our luxury tent was large & well equipped. Umberto, the general manager leads by example - he is always present & engaging with the guests & boy can he cook ! We were fortunate to have him step into the kitchen to make us a few meals - you can tell cooking is his passion - meals I will never forget. Every staff member was smiling & going the extra mile . I hope we are fortunate enough to return one day - as Karpha Sands is really worth the flight to Sri Lanka

It was a perfect experience. We really recommend this hotel. We stayed 2 nights and did some activities, cooking class and massage, amazing ! The hotel is a mix between luxury, calm and authenticity ! We stayed in both Kolaya and Palam both are really spacious and with exterior shower !

Truly the best Sri Lanka has to offer. The ambiance, service, uniqueness, comfort, and design of this quiet and beautifully boutique hotel place it in the a category with the best five star hotels in the world. In all my visits to Sri Lanka covering more than 13 years of visits, it stands out. I was fortunate to find a single room available upon landing in Colombo. Within a few hours of check in, I was so impressed I adjusted my plans and extended my stay for the additional two nights the room was available. I am very much looking forward to returning.

Wonderful place, lost paradise in Pasikudah. Very clean and beautiful hotel, villas made so stylish. Beach and pool are amazing. Highly recommended! Will come back for sure! Thanks to Nifras for 24hours service. Very professional and nice personal and people live in Srilanka

Second visit, great place, best beach front in east coast, great staff The manager Umberto is the best Thanks Umberto for looking after us, loved the cake and the meal spent the days lying on the sunbeds watching the local fishermen pulling in the nets and a night drunk cocktails around the pool

Hotel is isolated, quite small but super friendly, cosy and exclusive. Staff is super friendly, great room size and very clean. Food is superb. Hotel arranges trips to the local city Batticaloa, Sigiriya, Safari to the National Parks to see the elephants and other trips. Special thanks to Sampah who received us and took care of us during our stay.

Karpha Sands is a beautiful, well-designed hotel. The Rooms are tent like bungalows with an astonishing view to the beach. As a family with two pre-school children we felt extreme welcome by the friendly, warm-hearted staff. The food was very delicious, offering a well balanced mixture between local and international cuisine. We had a wonderful time and would definitetely come again when we visit Sri Lanka again... The Karpaha Sands is a luxurious hotel complex built on an old coconut plantation. Beautiful beach in a secluded location. Beautiful infinity pool with sea views. Good food in the in-house restaurant. Dedicated and friendly team under Italian management.
