The price was low so I wasn’t expecting 5 star but honestly this hotel would be lucky to make 3 star. First of all, there are two Seng Hout hotels - the original one on the corner and the second one about 50m along the road. The original one had rooftop pool and bar, massage service, etc - all the facilities. According to our tuk tuk driver (excellent English), it was closed during Covid and has not reopened. I don’t know if the second hotel, where we stayed, was Seng Hout #2 before Covid or whether it was another hotel and the owner of the big one bought it and renamed it when she closed the original. If you check through the 166 photos of the hotel on Trip Advisor, you can see photos from both hotels all mixed together, along with other photos of mould, cracks in wall, mouldy shower curtains etc - things you don’t normally see on websites. My room was under the swimming pool and the filter machine was turned on at about 7.30 am and ran until 8.30pm, meaning I had the background noise of a whining machine all day in my room. Recommend not taking a room near the lift on 2nd floor. There is no breakfast or bar - it is more like a hostel. There is a rooftop terrace on 5th floor but no bar or other facilities apart from a big table and some seating. The pool is on the 3rd floor. Rooms are not made up daily. On arrival, your room will have towels, water and toilet paper but if you want clean towels, more water and more toilet paper on 2nd or 3rd day, you have to collect it yourself from reception. Behind the reception desk were four people playing cards all day and one of them was the receptionist. So staff can play cards all day but cannot check water and toilet paper in the rooms. Don’t use the hotel’s washing service - yes it is very cheap $1 per kg, but it does not get picked up until the following morning and is not returned until that evening. So we checked in at 1 pm, handed in the washing and were told “tomorrow morning”. This was not true. It did not return until 7.30 pm the next day. Find a laundry outside the hotel. In the heat, our clothes would have dried in 1 hour. Apart from the noise of the pool filter all day, my room was OK - I was by myself so quite big enough. It had a functioning air conditioner and also a fan, which was great as the weather was nearly 40C every day. The shower worked OK and has a shower curtain, which I like because it means the whole bathroom floor does not get wet. My bed was comfortable, although the bottom sheet was too small for the mattress and could not be tucked in at the head or sides. When you check in, you will be given your room key and the remote controls for the air con and TV - I guess people steal them. Wifi works fine. Location near the market is very good and not too far to walk to places to eat and drink. The owner, who has the pharmacy over the road, is very friendly but the staff at the hotel need a good manager. I actually wondered if they were university or college s
