We had a lovely one night/ 2 days in Bath, the hotel/guest house was in a wonderful location and a very pretty, quaint, periodic building. It just simply in our opinion wasn't "5 star rated" as advertised and the price we paid was far too much for what it actually was, so we felt a little let down after being excited by what we had read and seen when booking this to find our expectations were very obviously not met. There were a few minor issues at the beginning upon arrival. There was no free bottled water so I enquired about this to be told that I could buy bottled water or use the glass bottle in the room which had I'm told been filled prior we arrive and had no top/lid over the bottle, also the bottle was dusty around the neck and lid area so this wasn't very appealing and we chose not to even touch the water/bottle. Secondly I noticed a small pile of red crumbs on a mini round table so I wiped the table clean with facial wet wipes (always handy). I then started to notice round coffee/tea mug stains practically on every single flat surface so started to clean them too. I then saw dust, in some areas quite thick such as behind the bedside table where I had to bend down and reach far to use a plug socket to charge my phone. I also picked up the nicely folded towels that were on the bed when we arrived. These towels were damp to touch. At one point I wondered if they were used towels, hence wet and just been folded up but then I thought that they clearly had just been pulled out of the tumble dryer too early. I didn't want to look like I was picking and looking for faults so this time my wife went to speak to the polite young gentleman about the towels. The towels were exchanged for new dry ones without issue. The bathroom sink cold tap had a missing top/lid and the hot tap was non stop dripping and it was impossible to turn it off but thankfully you could not hear the non stop dripping from the bed. You could hear every word of conversation from whoever it was in the next room. The free breakfast included was dismally poor. I don't eat eggs so I asked to not have this with my all day breakfast, so I received x1 small sausage, x1 small bacon rasher, x1 small half grilled tomato with a thread of parsley thrown on top presented nicely on a large plate however this only made it look like a toddler's meal size. Thankfully, I had kept my toast to put the baked beans on but there was no baked beans with the breakfast, unlike the baked beans seen in the photo adverts when viewing to book, so this was very disappointing as I now had a dry all day breakfast and a very small one at that. The coffee was nice though. The room was nice looking but small, no storage and as already stated very unclean and with the lack of free water bottle too, this clearly didn't scream out "5 star". I have never had to start cleaning a room when on holiday or on a mini break in my life until this stay. I have stayed in cleaner service station hotels that had better
