Very comfortable and clean with a great vibe. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. I love the artwork and decor. Safe overnight parking available. Overall a great experience.

Call in this place a few years ago. At this time, it was struggling and looking very tired. However, it has had a very sympathetic makeover, it's retained the old charm of bygon days with furnishings and decor to match. We got our drinks in the bar then headed to the very pleasant garden to enjoy our drinks. Meals are not available through the week, only weekends. There is the option of cakes, scones and pastries tea and coffee.

I had the most wonderful stay at Karoo Art Hotel. The hotel was comfortable, food absolutely sublime, service fantastic & the art workshop program really grew my art skills. It was a rejuvenating escape that healed my heart. I felt so taken care of.

The perfect breakaway for a romantic experience. Huge rooms, fabulous bathroom and a private balcony overlooking the most beautiful mountains and neat lavender field. No one will find you here whilst celebrating your anniversary or that special occasion. you can even watch a movie for free and in summer cool down at the clear pool. The pub reminds me of the olden days wild west style. This hotel is a must experience for anyone who appreciates real old fashioned etiquette and style.

We had an incredible stay at the Karoo Art Hotel in Barrydale and only wish we could have stayed longer! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. The owner, Rick, was on-site and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect — his warmth and hospitality truly set the tone. After a long day of driving, we enjoyed a delicious, comforting meal in the pub — exactly what we needed. The accommodation was spotless and full of charm. The staff were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I would go back in a nanosecond! This hotel is a gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Barrydale. I can't wait to return and explore more of the magic this town and the Karoo Art Hotel have to offer.

As part of our Karoo trip we did a quick visit to the Karoo Art Hotel - we did watch the rugby (don't ask about the score) at the historic pub and it was filled with locals and ambience - this is a great option if you are traveling the R62 and the art alone is worth the stop, the food will keep you and the service will make sure you come back !!
