Tadross Hotel

We visited the Tadross as part of our Gavin and Stacey tour, we looked to stay here also but thank fully we changed our minds, however we did go in to the bar to see where they filmed most of the show. Upon arrival the first impression was not a good one, very run down and the greeting wasn't the best, the staff was not at all sociable, at first we thought we must be in the wrong place and why would they want to film here? There budget must be really low! Apart from 2 locals we felt quite uncomfortable being in there, We asked one of the staff about Gavin and Stacey, where they filmed it etc and she said "to be honest I've not watched it" then walked away,a local overheard us and came up to us and pointed out a corner of the pub that had a signed picture of the cast, which we thought was nice, another one spoke to us about it and where it was filmed etc, apart from them we certainly didn't feel welcome and once we had our drinks we swiftly walked out. We would have been really gutted if we had stayed here, the amusing part of it all is the sign outside that says, "always a warm welcome" Gavin and Stacey fans if your looking for a nice place to stay, we would recommend the Brook Garden Lodge instead in Barry, great hosts, Wayne & Delwyn and their Annexe and suite is spotlessly clean, you can find them online, if you book direct it's cheaper than the air b and b option.

we arrived early i went in and asked if we could check in early the owner a lovely gentleman said let me just check if your room is ready 2 minutes later he came back into reception and said i will show you to your room it was out the back of the hotel in the annexe he opened the door and said if there is anything you want let us know i was a bit dubious because of some of the reviews but we wnt into our room lovely and clean 2 single beds and a double bed loads of space drawers and a wardrobe it was great once we had unpacked we went into the pub and again the owner sorted us out to get to Barry Island as Gavin and Stacy are filming we then drove to watch CARDIFF V PANTHERS ice hockey on returning to the hotel the 4 of us were greeted again by the owner and the barmaid plus the locals they were so friendly to say what we paid for a lovely room at a price of £17.50 per person it was fantastic i was quoted £71.50 per person in Cardiff if you want a lovely hotel cheap and pleasant this is the PLACE Thank you so much for our stay

We booked here only because we knew some scenes from Gavin and Stacey had been filmed here. The hotel is dated , but that adds to its charm. Great price, great welcome and very clean . We were very comfortable and would stay here again . The parking was a bonus . The locals were happy to tell us all about Gavin and Stacey and the crew who they had met .

Room very spacious, with plenty of drawers for storage with a built in cupboard. Mattresses of poor quality, room was not cleaned our entire visit, except for providing us with a clean bin liner (we took our rubbish out ourselves) no clean towels provided. No chair or mirror in room. Toilet was poor to flush, shower had no water pressure, no blind or net curtain on bathroom window so lacked privacy. Location of hotel fab.

We loved this hotel. Great location. Rooms were clean and comfortable, spacious, all you need. But what made this hotel was the people. From the lush gentleman on check in to the wonderful bar lady who knew our drinks after 1 round, the locals adopted us like their own. Anything we needed was given or advised on where to go. For the price you pay this hotel is so worth it. We were going to go out but had so much fun in the bar we stayed. Big up to miss MJ super fan Isobel. What a gorgeous little dancing girl. We will be coming back to the Tadross as we had THE best time xx

What a lovely little find. For a budget hotel it had everything we needed. Lovely warm room with the usual coffee, tea etc. Even supplied shower gel. Staff were fantastic, nothing was too much bother. No food at this hotel but loads of takeaways near by and the staff gave us plates and cutlery. The bar attached was fabulous, so friendly! Probably the room could do with some nets and maybe a chair. We will definitely be back, probably without the kids so we can enjoy a few beers.
