It was a great place to spend one night. From outside it was not spectacular. But inside it was much nicer. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent. It was right by the whalebone arch and the water so you could walk around and see several things.

Our ocean view room at Top of the Hotel was facing the arctic. The delux room had a king bed and a sofa bed which covered for our family of 4 with kids. The unique feature of the room is the kitchenette having a microwave, sink, plates, cups and towels. We made use of the gift shop to buy essentials like soda, water and Advil. The restaurant food was delicious. The service at the front desk is warm and courteous. The front porch is a great area to be seated while you wait for the cab. They organize shuttle from and to the airport for guests. Overall, this hotel is the best place to stay in Barrow.

Great location. Convenient hotel restaurant, friendly staff. We were also here in 2018. This trip all of their vacuum cleaners must have been broken. We were on the 3rd floor. During a two night stay, the cigarette butt (in a no smoking facility) and beach gravel in the hallway outside our room was never cleaned up. The room floor felt grubby. The entry area had crushed saltine crackers on the carpeted floor. The tour - the Heritage Center was very nice. Attached is a workroom where natives work their crafts and offer them for sale. Nice to be able to speak with the artist. Impressive and instructive displays. In 2018 and last month, the advertised Cultural Entertainment Presentation was not presented. The grocery store stop was eye-opening - a good selection, but considering that everything must be shipped in, very high prices. Our grandkids enjoyed playing on the football field, but the Polar Plunge was the highlight!

The Top of the World Hotel is a nice place to stay. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, and the staff were attentive. The hotel shuttle is waiting at the airport for you when you arrive since there is only 1 flight in and out on most days. We did the polar plunge into the Arctic ocean, and they gave us nice certificates and patches for it. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if we ever went back up.

Stayed one night. Rooms are nice, pretty standard. Hotel has an airport shuttle and a town wide tour. A little pricey but something to do for the day. You can earn your polar plunge certificate in the Arctic Ocean across the street by the whale bone arch.

Great location providing easy access to the beach. Made it easier to experience ( and take a dip in) the Arctic Ocean. Hotel restaurant offered both convenience and good food including reindeer soup. Short 10 min walk to the Heritage Center.

I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the hotel staff and the time they dedicated to conversation and teaching us about local culture, traditions, and the area in general. The hotel is nice and exceeds expectations in such a harsh climate, but the people make it a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone.

We stayed two nights on a quick visit to the most northern town in the United States and we are glad we did. The hotel was adjacent to the famous whale bone arch and the Arctic Ocean. The hotel was basic but clean and the staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel had one of the few restaurants in town. The food was good and the wait staff was great. We wished the gift shop had a wider section of art and merchandize for sale. The tour of the town and area offered by the hotel was excellent. Nasuayanq, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and gave an informative overview of the town and Inupiaq culture during our 4 1/2 hour tour. We drove to Barrow Point and we got to within one mile of the most northern point where the road ended (it was not safe to walk the last mile). We toured the Inupiat Heritage Center, which provided additional background on the people of the area. We stopped at all the other sights in the town including the grocery store.

I stayed for a night this week. The location is unbeatable- right by the beach and Whale Bone Arch. The views are spectacular on a sunny day. It's a 3 minute drive from the airport. The website says they have a complimentary airport shuttle however a few days before I arrived I got an email from the hotel saying the shuttle was only for tour guests and I should book a taxi to get there. . Everywhere in town is within walking distance. Check in was quick and the recpetionist was friendly. My 1st floor room was big enough but was baking hot- just a little fan to cool it down and it wasn't working. The window was badly smashed too. They don't have blackout curtains which is bad when it doesn't get dark during the summer. It was so hot and light that I didn't sleep well. There is a small (very small) fitness room which is a nice touch. Gift shop was rather poor. On site restaurant is ok- closes at 8pm not 10pm as advertised though. Whilst everything this far north is expensive, nigh on $300 a night for this place is ridiculous and very poor value.
