Stayed here in the winter for the Birkebeiner. Bottom line, this is not a fancy chain, and definitely has its quirks (bathroom door wouldn't close all the way and we would use the trash can to hold it closed), but that is something we find endearing and look for with our hotel stays. The lodge is an old lodge and keeps that feel of a family cabin. It is cozy, has a fully equipped kitchen, and lots of room. The lodge is on the lake, and would love to see it during the summer. It is quiet and relaxing, but right next to downtown Rice Lake for restaurants and supplies. They offer a simple grab and go breakfast, with scones, fruit, juice and a full coffee/ tea bar. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for the Northern Wisconsin experience.
