We have been coming here for years as a family. Had heard that the new Landlords were not as friendly as the previous, but as we take folk as we find them, we decided to visit when we were in the area. What a mistake. My husband walked up to the Bar to order drinks before the rest of the family were meeting here later to have a meal. As soon as he ordered, the Landlord immediately rudely stopped him and said “ I will stop you there - we don’t take your Scottish money” . Yes - my husband has a Scottish accent. But you lost a lot of custom that day, and in the future from our family who were regular visitors. No need for the attitude. And he wasn’t even going to pay in cash …

Just back from a 2 night stay with 6 others here. Staff were very friendly and nice to see a genuine pub thriving. Rooms were a tad on the small side but adequate. Good atmosphere in the pub at night and a big garden if the weather is fine for you to sit in. Breakfast was good and as we had to be away very early on the last day and would miss breakfast they made us sandwiches of our choice and wrapped them for the morning. If the need to stay in this area arose again I would book here again.

Just spent 2 nights at this delightful country hotel. Couldn't fault it at all. Everything and everyone were first class, the room was spacious and very clean, and a full English breakfast was included in the price. Would definitely recommend staying at the Sorrel Horse, and will definitely be going back on my next visit to Suffolk.

Nice friendly place , breakfast was very good and good quality ingredients ( it's all in the taste) Had the rump for dinner and it was huge . Home made chips and home made onion rings were a bonus . Ordered my steak medium but it came kind of rare but wasn't too bad . Big big portions and friendly service

We normally come to this pub once or twice a month as our children love the play area and the staff are always lovely . Lovely setting with open fire in the winter and my partner normally comes with a group of friends for a lads night . Roast dinners were amazing last time we went on a Sunday . Everything changed from today when our family came in for lunch after a walk at Needham lake . It was very busy but still managed to get a seat . Me and my other half's mother ordered a beef and horse radish sandwich and a prawn cocktail . When they came out the bread on both was stale . Hard in the middle on the beef sandwich and the granary bread on the prawn cocktail was the same. We told the waitress we would like fresh bread as we were not happy with our food . They changed it straight away but when it came back it was exactly the same . No one came to check on the table through out and didn't ask us at all if we would like any condiments. At the end I went to explain that we were still not happy with the bread quality and that we had not eaten the bread . The landlord took the beef sandwich off after telling me we had already had a replacement which id stated it was still stale and that the granary bread was still stale on the prawn cocktail . He raised his voice and said I was taking the mick ( he used another word but Its too rude to put it on here ) I was in totally shock ! Never ever should a customer be spoken to like that in front of children . I then said we would never be returning to the pub again and how rude he was . As we were walking out of the pub he walked into the kitchen and my other half heard him talking about the situation and being rude about it . It's a real shame this has happened as this is our go to pub as a family. But we will not be returning after this . Especially being spoken to like that in front of children.

Lovely proper country pub with proper nice pub grub with a nice selection on the specials board. Warm and welcoming staff. The only thing I could say was in one of the side rooms we were sat in it was quite chilly (however is was -5) Highly recommend if you want a nice pub grub meal and friendly staff and atmosphere.

We stayed here off the hoof and on the spur of the moment, whilst en route elsewhere. It’s not exactly off the beaten track but this inn is what you’d imagine of coaching inns of days gone by and for only a few guineas a night. The bar/restaurant is cosy and adorned with a welcoming open log fire, horse brasses and equestrian paraphernalia. We grazed well. It’s a basic menu and specials board but the manes were neigh bad. Suffice to say we ate like a horse. The coaching staff were lovely, chatty and friendly. It provided a lovely stable for the night too. A small, ground floor room. Clean and well equipped, Sky TV, with excellent Wi-Fi and toasty warm. A bit noisy first thing in the morning though due to clanging plumbing in neighbouring rooms. The full English breakfast was large and tasty. This inn wins by more than a head. Quite a dark horse! You’d be a foal not to visit.
