This is a traditional family run pub, with accommodation. I was booked into the place by work, for a week long stay. arrived on Sunday, friendly efficient staff greeted me on arrival, and took me straight to my room. A nice double overlooking the front (ample parking), room was warm, clean, plenty of sockets, fresh bed linen, and towels, tv, kettle and plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits. Ensuite showeroom, again clean, and tidy, complimentary hand soap, shampoos and shower wash. The accommodation is traditional pub, it is not generic national chain... any I cannot fault it. Bar food, well having driven 6 hours, i decided on the Sunday to opt for a burger and chips... served properly hot, wow proper chips, lovely burger, and lovely mature cheddar cheese, I was not disappointed, and definitely did not need a pudding, as more than ample portions. Try the local Suffolk Aspall's Cider, really light crisp and refreshing. Monday morning, and down for breakfast, cereal, and juice (tea and coffee if you want it) fried breakfast, and toast, again wow, this really set me up for the day, didn't need lunch! I really cannot say enough how friendly the staff are here, from arrival at the bar, evening meals in the bar, and breakfasts. Breakfast, there are I think perhaps half a dozen rooms, so service is personal, with only a few guests, the chap serving brilliant making me feel very welcome, giving really good advice on local roads, and what was around the area generally. Evenings in the bar, well its a local friendly pub, and there are a number of regular customers, as well as the travelling business people, but all are made to feel welcome. Would I stay here again... DEFINITELY, over the years I have found pub/inn accommodation can be very hit and miss, so have often voted for the chain hotels, especially if paying with my own money... but this place is a real gem.
