El Raval Barcelona|0.36km from Hell Gallery
Two stars doesn’t really do this place justice - staff are very friendly and willing to help tourists, and the rooms, while pokey, are clean and well presented - providing you’re not a stickler for huge amounts of space, you’ll be be very comfortable - definitely more cosy than it is cramped. The whole place is very sleek, modern and airy and I felt very contented and comfortable during my stay there. I can only assume the score comes from its location (as do some of the more dissenting reviews) - I will concede that the areas either side of the hotel are very noisy at all times of the day - the rear side of the property backs onto MACBA where skateboarders like to practice at all hours. The front side (where I stayed) overlooks Carrer de Joaquin Costa, which is bustling at all times of day and comes alive a bit at night - adds a lot of colour to the area, but can make it tricky to get to sleep. If you pack some decent earplugs, you’ll be absolutely fine. I’ve read a lot of dire warnings about the area surrounding the hotel and was actually very anxious about staying here - the taxi driver that took me from the hotel to the airport even commented that we were staying in ‘the red zone’. El Raval is somewhat infamous for its high levels of crime, drugs and ************ and many other tourists have written frightening reviews detailing how they fell foul of certain seedy or even dangerous goings on. I’m happy to report, however, that this particular area of the neighbourhood felt very safe - the street, while a little shabby looking at face value, is a rustic, classically European, multicultural area with some really cool bars and coffee shops nearby - the skater culture around MACBA also gives the place a real trendy, bohemian edge. I walked this street and the areas around it at different hours of the day and it was always lively, busy and I didn’t really feel threatened or vulnerable at any point. Of course, experiences vary and this is only a small part of Raval, but I had nothing but positive experiences.

The first one had a large terrace with table and chairs and this is just a window to a patio indoor. We said this was not the pay and they said this was also a suite? And it costs the same? We drove into Barcelona and found the hotel perfectly thanks to Gmaps, driving into the carpark was quite amusing as the entrance/lobby area is also where the cars go through when entering the underground carpark. Staff were very friendly and welcomed our arrival. After showing us where we could park we made adventurous drive down two levels as prepared by other reviews.... it is tight but manageable. Staff were full of great advice and information at check in. Giving reassurance that absolutely nothing was too much trouble! The room was well sized and very clean. A huge bath in the centre of the room and plenty of toiletries that were refreshed daily. Thanks again for a great stay.

Cheap 2 star accommodation in the centre of Barcelona. Room are basic but clean and staff are friendly and more than helpful. Great if your spending a night or two and want to be in the middle of things with bars/clubs and restaurants on your door step.

This is a nice little hotel for the money, the area is a touch run down but very close to metro/ bus serviced and only 10 minutes walk from la ramble, we started in room 210 and the balcony is in the middle of the hotel so no view at all, however the room was lovely and clean , the bed very comfy and the shower room large with good water pressure, if coming on the aerobus from the airport, get off at the universitat stop, cross to sant antoni and follow the road straight down for about 10 minutes until you reach the pedestrian area then rhonda house is across the square in the corner, would recommend for anyone travelling on a budget

I know the saying is “you get what you pay for” but no matter how cheap a place is, I expect to be able to sleep if I’m paying for a room. First of all, when we arrived we were informed that the hostel was being renovated, which meant that from 9am until 7pm there was constant hammering right outside of our room every day. On top of this there was slamming doors every few minutes all through the night. The room itself was nice, it’s just a shame I couldn’t enjoy it.
