On 1 April 2025, Beca (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as a structural engineer and Engineer of Record for the Amara Bangkok Hotel, conducted an inspection of the Amara Bangkok Building on Surawong Road. This inspection was requested by Amara Bangkok Hotel to undertake a rapid post-earthquake structural damage assessment following the earthquake on 28 March 2D25 that impacted Bangkok.

Amara Bangkok Building on Surawong Road was designed to withstand vibrations caused by earthquakes in compliance with The Ministerial Building Regulations and The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning: DPT Standard 1301-1302 for earthquake-resistant building design, which incorporated data from past recorded earthquakes in Thailand and neighboring countries.
Impact of Earthquake on Structural Capacity
The inspection was conducted of readily viewable structural elements only, with the focus on main structural members as well as structural components in parts of the building expected to experience earthquake forces based on structural analysis and design.
Based on the results of our inspection after the earthquake of 28 March 2025, it is our opinion that the property has not sustained any visible structural damage that would diminish its structural capacity. This means that the building appears to be in an unchanged structural condition compared with before the earthquake.

For a hotel cost over 7000 Bhat a night, I am expecting more. The hotel is old and the room is shabby, it looks more like a hotel pricing below 2000 Bhat. The swimming pool is the only attraction the hotel can offer, the view is decent but too crowded and too small

The hotel has a cool infinity pool. However it was a bit small. U couldn’t pay by mobile but you could set the bill on the room

Staff services were good. Environment was fine. Yet the location must be taken into consideration if you are looking for one that's near train station as this hotel would take you a 15-min walk from the nearest one.

I stayed here for a few nights, and while everything was adequate, nothing was spectacular for the price paid. The pool was tiny, the gym lacked equipment for a decent workout, the rooms were fine and fairly soundproof.
The biggest problem was that the water dispenser in the gym had very stale water, and bits of yellow stuff in the water when it was dispensed into my water bottle. I drank this water and had diarrhoea 4 times that day. I only realised it was this water when I filled my bottle again the next day, smelled the water and saw the nasty things floating around inside.
I gave my feedback to the hotel, they apologised, and no compensation was offered.
