Update February 2024: Not sure if the extra attention to detail was in response to my previous review or if the service returned back to normal, but everything was quite great this time around. I did notice they went above and beyond on a few things (aarti and welcome drink at check in, flower art on the room floor) that they had never done before. But even apart from that, the room was exactly up to my preference and clean and hotel and lounge staff were very pleasant. The only thing I’d like to point out is the staff at the main breakfast buffet can be more attentive, especially with bringing drink orders out faster but otherwise no complaints this time. Changing my rating to 4 from the previous 2 stars. I stayed here in 2019 a couple times and it was a great experience. However, I stayed here in December this past year and it was very unsatisfactory. 1. They told me I was “upgraded” to the top floor but I would have two queens instead of the requested king bed. I told them I’d rather have the king room and was told they actually didn’t have any available. So much for the “upgrade” lie. I get to the room and see what I can only call two XL twin beds. But the biggest thing I found was the gnawed-on soap in the bathroom with pieces of the wrapping on the floor…basically looked to be the work of a rat. I called and told front desk and they magically found a king room to switch me to. 2. Went down for breakfast the next morning and was rudely told by the staff that they can’t seat me inside because they don’t have open tables (I counted at least three open tables). I said whatever, I’ll just go to the lounge and started walking away when she runs behind me telling me she has an open table for me (one of the 3 I saw before). Guess she didn’t think she had to be polite and respectful if I wasn’t a top status holder? 3. I asked for my “guaranteed” late checkout but was told they could not honor it. After some back and forth, they said I could use a different room for part of the day until I had to leave for the airport. 4. I asked for an airport pickup and was only offered ridiculous options starting at INR 15K. I had to tell them that in the past I’ve had a different car for a much lower rate in order for them to book it. All in all, this hotel has significantly declined in quality and service. The staff has not been adequately trained on customer service, the rooms are dirty and unkempt (dust bunnies, a bug in the shower, the rat-gnawed soap). Other (let’s say more minor) issues such as nobody to take my drink order at breakfast and long wait times for porters/room service. Shameful for Marriott given the expected quality of such hotels in India. I’d much rather stay at Ritz, ITC, or even other properties further away. The 2 stars are because of the measures they took to resolve my issues such as upgrading me to a (kinda dirty) suite and finding me another room when they couldn't honor my late checkout. I have an upcoming stay at this hotel
