Blackwell House

Wow. Stunning little gem. We had the best stay here. Attention to detail is on point. We booked the taster menu which did not disappoint - it was exquisite. The gardens are beautiful, a real haven of peace and tranquility where we sat and had lovely drinks before dinner. The thing that makes Blackwell House so special apart from the tasteful decor throughout, exceptional food and beautiful surroundings is Alessio and Edel who work so hard in ensuring that you are made feel welcome and relaxed. Thank you for a truly relaxing break and for spoiling us so much. We will definitely be looking for a reason to be returning soon.

If you are looking for a magical place tucked away in the countryside with impeccable service, delicious food, and charming rooms, then look no further. Our few days at Blackwell House were one of our favorite stays in all of our travels. This is a place where every detail is thought of by the attentive hosts/owners, with care and quality. The atmosphere lends itself to relaxation, and has a feeling of a five star hotel but with the warmth that only a bed and breakfast can provide. We made arrangements for afternoon tea and two incredible dinners (with beautiful wines!) during our stay, which were our best during two+ weeks in Ireland. Highly recommend this lovely place.

I had a perfect 4-night stay here in March 2025. It's an extremely well-run guest house with the feel of a boutique in-the-country hotel. My favourite things (apart from the wonderful room, the owners and cooks) were the main entrance that feels so smart yet homely, the surrounding garden, the view from my 'loft' room, the birds and the early morning birdsong (no traffic sound!) the peace is brilliant. I like the hens too and admired what was growing in the greenhouse - all destined for the plate at some time this year. The breakfasts catered for my every whim. I even got an off-menu kipper fillet one morning when I said I liked them. The plentiful breakfast tea is kept hot, served beautifully in a china pot. Great tea, for which they are locally renowned. I have photographed one of the breakfasts here that features the superlative homemade bread. If you've never had your avocado smashed on fried soda bread of this quality - and I hadn't - then you haven't lived. The yoghurt and granola is a meal in itself and I loved it too. There aren't many places in the whole of Ulster where you'll get such a warm welcome and high-quality accommodation. If you're a German or Italian-speaker, you'll be in luck too. Very special place.

Had The most Delicious Afternoon Tea in This Amazingly Beautiful Spotless House. Everything from Start to finish was 5 Star. The Host is extremely pleasant and Helpful. Would highly recommend this Place. The sous Chef is lovely and gives an explanation of The food she is Serving

There has been a change in management since we last stayed here. This matters not one jot. Alessio and Edele are fine hosts and the food and accommodation have been maintained to a high standard. Thoroughly recommended .

Booked the Orchard Room and The Loft Suite with 3 friends for a local staycation. We didn’t want to go too far from home and found Blackwell House on Rory’s Travel Club. An amazing nights stay which included a 5 course meal and breakfast the next morning. I requested a few extras which included a hot tub and it was fantastic. Edele and Alessio were fantastic hosts and their attention to detail in the rooms, main building, food and service is fantastic. We all said we would love to go back. The food was amazing and we were all in agreement that the pork dish was the best. A lot of food is homemade and from their gardens, the jam is a must try. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom in The Orchard Room was stunning. Highly recommend staying here whether you are local or from further afield. You will have a fantastic time.
