We stayed here when we did the Camino Portuguese, and this place was smacked along the route! The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was wonderful to prepare us for the continuation of our journey. As this is a small town, food options were not plenty, but we did managed to find a nice place for dinner before we retire for the night.

Quinta da Cancela, dates back to the 16-17th century, which I was told has been with the current family since the 18th century and was operating as a vineyard as late as the 1970’s. In 2015 the old buildings were renovated to create a guest house oozing with character and old world charm. It was a perfect waypoint to refresh and rejuvenate after a day on the Camino Way. Our accommodation was a small house. The house was cool, the yard was green, very shady and abundant with rich juicy grapes. The owner was welcoming, friendly and provided a reasonable set evening meal. The breakfast was well presented and adequate foundation for the day’s walk to Ponte De Lima. Certainly recommended to pilgrims.

Picturesque old stone building with rooms off a courtyard and a spacious garden. Our room was a mix of traditional and modern, with a double bed and racks to hang things on. Breakfast was served individually and was satisfactory. Drinks were limited and wine not so good. No meal in evening but Altamira up the street was fine.

Au sein d'un domaine viticole ancien rénové avec beaucoup de goût quelques chambres avec tout le confort. Le petit déjeuner, servi dans une salle de la maison principale sous forme de buffet propose un grand choix de produits frais. On peut se promener dans les vignes proches et bénéficier d'une piscine d'eau de source (pas testée car trop tôt dans la saison) et on a aussi accès à une cuisine, la bibliothèque , un billard. Le maître des lieux se montre particulièrement accueillant et chaleureux. Maîtrisant parfaitement l'anglais et le français il est vraiment intéressant de l'entendre parler de son métier et des vins qu'il produit. S'il organise un repas dégustation c'est une opportunité à ne pas manquer. Nous avons eu cette chance et les plats étaient délicieux mariés à des vins de grande qualité. C'est vraiment un endroit à choisir que ce soit pour se reposer dans une oasis de calme ou pour rayonner dans le région.
