A huge thank you to Guy and Clelia for providing a lovely stay when I was in a very tough spot. To make a long story short, I was recently in Baltimore attending a large (10k people) conference for which I booked a large hotel chain well ahead of time. I was notified while standing in said hotel chain's lobby trying to check in that they cancelled my reservation due to being "over-booked". No notification, no place to sleep, every hotel sold out in a ten mile radius. By a sheer stroke of luck (or genius?), my travel rep was able to connect me with Guy, the owner and proprietor of Wilson House. He was friendly, accommodating, and willing to help out in any way they could. They had just returned from some recent travel and didn't have their property listed publicly, so still had a few rooms available. I grabbed an Uber and headed over. The property is located in the historic neighborhood of Reservoir Hill, about 2 miles north of the Baltimore Convention Center. It's about a 10 minute car ride, which is much easier than the seemingly quite unreliable light rail. It is a beautiful, sprawling mansion that is filled with both lovely antique furnishings and treasures from Guy and Clelia's travels around the world. My room (the flower room) was quite large by modern standards, with a private balcony and en-suite. Of note, the room and bathroom were impressively CLEAN. Take it from a career scientist in the medical field, that bathroom was cleaner than a lot of labs I've worked in. Clelia cleans and maintains all the rooms herself and she's NOT messing around. Finally, the breakfasts I had over the 3 mornings of my stay were all delicious, varied (especially loved the Moroccan eggs/shakshuka!), and filled with great company. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Though it's a bit off the beaten path from the main tourist spots in Baltimore, it's worth it. It certainly worked out being a better stay than what I originally had booked at the big-hotel chain, and probably about half the cost to boot. Guy was even able to help out a coworker of mine with a room for our first night in town after the hotel she had booked left her with concerns about safety and cleanliness. If you're looking for ultra-modern in the dead center of the city and/or traveling with a bunch of kids, I'd likely look elsewhere. However, if you value historic charm, true hospitality, and supporting a local business, you'd do VERY well to stay with Guy and Clelia at Wilson House.

I was booked to say at a hotel in the Inner Harbor, which ended up being dirty and shady. It turns out that Guy had a room and was able to check me in at 10pm! I had a warm, cozy, and comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast in the morning. I will definitely stay again when I am back in the area.

The Wilson House is a beautiful bed & breakfast conveniently located near MICA. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The hosts are the real gems, though! Breakfast in the morning with the hosts and other guests was also a highlight of my stay. Parking was also available.

I have to admit that, after making my reservation at Wilson House, I read some of the one-, two-, and three-star reviews on TA and was more than a little concerned. But I am SO glad that they did not influence our decision to stay here (plus, most were written several years ago and the more recent reviews were very positive). We were to meet friends in Baltimore and stay in the Inner Harbor/ Harbor East area, but when they couldn't make it we made the decision to find an B&B. Throughout our 40 years together, my husband and I have preferred staying at B&B's when we travel as they are much more personal than a sterile hotel room. And being in an old, historic house or inn gives us a much better sense of the area. First, the neighborhood. Apparently it has been cleaned up in the past several years because, although I wouldn't go for a long walk at night, the rowhouses (and there are so many of these in the city, we never realized this!) are in good repair and clean. We parked outside of the Wilson House, on Reservoir St, and it is well-lit and we didn't have any doubt about leaving our car there (of course, it's always a good practice to never leave anything valuable, or the appearance of having anything of value, in the car). Wilson House is located in close proximity to I-83 so there is always a level of traffic noise. There is a line of mature trees as a sight buffer, and the thick walls of the house muffle the noise, but this is a fact-- you're in a city. The house is over a hundred years old. Comparatively speaking, and this is from someone who lived in an 1865 home for 30 years, no matter how much work goes into an old house it is never perfect. You want sterile and perfect, you go to a fancy hotel. Personally, I love the quirkiness of staying in an old house, the oddly-angled rooms, old and comfortable furniture, the sense of history. The house is in good repair; it is so difficult to keep up with everything that a century home requires, but the Owners do it well. Inside the walls are colorful, patterned carpets on wood floors, and lots and lots of Guy's mementoes from both his long history in several branches of the military and of their travels. (Note, the front door lock is a bit tricky to use, PAY ATTENTION to the instructions!). Our room, the Master Suite (or Peacock Room) was great for a 3-night stay. The peacock-print wallpaper is old and bubbling/ peeling, the Owner mentioned this and said that they were trying to find a way to restore it, but honestly it didn't bother us at all. Original wallpaper, very Victorian, and beautiful. The furniture did't "match", but there was plenty of chairs to sit in, a small sofa in the sitting area for reading, and lamps on tables for extra light. There was a small refrigerator in the corner of the sitting area as well. The bathroom is a small-ish, rectangular tub and shower which, if the doorway curtains are pulled, separates that area from the sink/ toilet area. BTW, the fi

The Wilson House puts the second B back in B&B. They served a nice, full (but not overfilling) breakfast. I would have liked a little more breakfast, but it was a reasonable size. The host was very friendly. Know that there are a lot of stairs, and they are steep. There is parking on the street. I think it might get a little warm in the summer. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms, but there is street noise when the window is open (at least for our room which faced the highway). I would stay here again.

Recently our large extended family spent a marvelous weekend at the historic Wilson House. Each one of us, from 17 to79, thoroughly enjoyed the fascinating history and warm beauty of this unique B&B; the excellent homemade breakfasts served on fine China and in Waterford glasses; and most of all, the genuinely gracious hospitality of the owners, Clelia & Guy Thomas. A truly wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

An absolute must if you're staying in Baltimore. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough. Guy and Clelia are wonderful, warm and approachable hosts and made me feel welcome the second I walked in the door. Friendly and kind people who felt like old friends I had not seen in some time. I had had a mix-up with the dates of my stay and Guy was understanding and accommodating every step of the way and made me feel at home. The decor and look of the house itself is astonishing and very well maintained and cleaned. It's a feast for the eyes and so full of history you could spend an entire day indoors and not see everything it has to offer. Check it out if you're looking for a place to stay in the area - you won't regret it.

This is an exquisitely beautiful B&B in a large Victorian home in an historic section of Baltimore. It is lovingly maintained by the owners Guy and Clilia who were super friendly and attentive hosts. The house is filled with memorabilia from Guy’s extensive military career which was exceptional. The breakfasts were delicious, and my wife and I enjoyed our conversations with the other interesting guests who were staying there and also hearing Guy speak about his life’s experiences. We will look forward to staying here again on our future visits to Baltimore.

Property - Room very clean and very spacious with additional antechamber. The antechamber had lots of closet space, writing desk with chair, and mirror. The room and the entire property is very clean and carefully decorated with great attention to detail for a Victorian theme. The window gives a view of the neighborhood with Victorian architecture. The restroom attached to room where I stayed in had all the supplies and amenities required, very clean and well-decorated. The bathtub stands on 4 Victorian style legs. Downstairs dining room is again very nicely decorated and clean, with a large Victorian table and silverware. What I found amazing was that you will be seated at the table and served breakfast which contains a variety of items by the awesome hosts who prepared them in the adjoining kitchen. The property is at the corner of Mount Royal Terrace and Reservoir Street, the entrance is on Reservoir Street side. The hosts will send you an email with detailed driving directions after making the reservation. Communication was easy. The hosts, Clelia and Guy, are wonderful and very welcoming! They clearly work very hard because the property so well-maintained and impressively run. Neighborhood - The neighborhood looks clean, safe, and with lots of trees. If you are not driving/taking cab, the North Avenue Light Rail station from BWI airport is 0.4 miles from the property. I walked that distance, early evening before sunset, and had to walk under Highway 83 after getting off at the station. The walk was totally uneventful but the part under Highway 83 may be stressful because there is no one else around. Once you pass that portion of the road under Highway 83, the area starts to looks fine the closer you get to the entrance of Mount Royal Terrace. The walk through Mount Royal Terrace to the property is very scenic with lots lot of trees and people jogging, walking their pets.
