We had a lovely stay at the resort. The hotel rooms are simple but very clean with an amazing view . We organized a few activities from the resort that we enjoyed a lot : dog sledding; reindeers feeding ; aurora camp ; snowshoeing . Most of activities are done in the proximity of the hotel so you don’t waste a lot of time traveling . The nature around is beautiful and we had the chance of seeing a lot of auroras which was the main reason for the trip.

The resort is in the middle of nowhere but the views are absolutely stunning and is the perfect place to switch off. Service was great, the staff did as much as they possibly could to accommodate us with regards to evening timings. We would highly recommend staying here!

I have given this a rating of 3 as the location is great, and the staff were lovely. But the food was awful, some of the worst hotel food I have eaten anywhere, and I'm not one to complain. The food would be a 1 rating. Most of the people staying there were on half board as we were. There is NO choice in the menu (don't think you get what they suggest on their website), you get what you are given and it's bad. The first night there was a just about eatable steak, the second night there was a totally inedible fish dish with over cooked potatoes and sad veg. And they tried to charge us extra for catering for a vegetarian/food allergy (which was even worse than the fish dish). Eggs in the morning were like the rubber ones which come with kids kitchen sets, and I'm really not exaggerating. If you are thinking of coming here, I really suggest you get a self catering cabin, buy lots of food (the nearest shop is a 10 min drive away) and do it yourself. Eggs at breakfast were like the rubber ones in kids play kitchen and inedible, We stayed in one of their cabins which did have a self catering option (If you have booked one of these self cater if you can, but bring food with you the shop is a 10 min drive away).

The place is lost in the middle of no where, but it is definitely a great hotel. The only issue we had is to be in front of the sauna that remains lighted all night long. The view from the rooms are stunning. The breakfast is great. The restaurant is not great but this is Norway, you don’t come here for the food, do you?

Amazing location, beautiful views and cosy main lobby/bar area. Food was also delicious. What could be a great stay was let down by a few key things though so beware: 1. The heaters in the living room of our cabin didn’t work. We told the reception twice but nobody came to look at/fix them. Quite a key issue given the temperatures here can get very very cold. 2. We didn’t have any hot water in our shower through our entire stay. Luke warm at best. 3. Make sure you pre-book everything in advance i.e. restaurant reservations (there is only one place to eat here), activities, transfers etc as it can be too late once you arrive. The transfers are very very expensive so make sure your flights tally up with when they run their coach transfer service. Very difficult/near impossible to get a taxi - the reception also staff make it very clear they will not order a taxi for you either, its on you. 4. Breakfast service was chaotic. 1 staff member (not the most professional and overheard complaining about being too busy). No bowls for cereal. Hot food was not replenished so get in early and any coffee other than out of the flask was a charged extra. Seemed to be not enough staff. Burged was on kids menu but not an option for evening meal. Also, there is only quite fancy place to eat / no options for a more casual dining and note the nearest supermarket is a 45 minute walk… 5. Ive stayed at many other Scandinavian resorts and the offering here was the worst of them all - simple things like a way to contact the reception quickly (ie a WhatsApp or guest phone line), a northern lights alert service, the ability to borrow shoe spikes or snow shoes (the hotel grounds are very slippy).

Our recent stay at Melangen Resort in Norway was truly magical, and the credit goes to Evi, the outstanding front desk agent. Evi's planning and warm hospitality made our experience unforgettable. From personalized recommendations to flawless arrangements, she went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Evi's positive attitude and attention to detail added a special touch to every interaction, making our time at Melangen Resort truly exceptional. Norway wouldn't have been the same without her, and we can't wait to return for another memorable stay. Highly recommended! We were so lucky, we saw the Northern Light every evening. It was so magical.

Had a very negative experience with Diana at the front desk who was exceptionally rude and ruined our stay for us. We had booked a flexi shuttle with the hotel, the taxi left us at the airport without the hotel contacting us. Our flight was delayed by 10 minutes so we arrived at 2:10 instead of 2pm. The hotel had our flight details and while they claim they tried to contact us and did not get through we received no phone calls and had personally called the hotel many times in the interim while waiting. Dianna told us that it was non refundable which we were unhappy about but could have understood if it was hotel policy. However she was so rude to us! From the get go when we first spoke to her on the phone to check out when she refused to let us speak to a manager ( which we had been asking to do since we arrived) she told us we needed to take personal responsibility for the situation and generally adopted a very aggressive and inhospitable tone with us. She was basically yelling at us by the end of it which as a guest paying for resort services was felt not only unerving but very disrespectful. Unsure if this is her general attitude or if it had anything to do with us being persons of colour but the hospitality at this resort has been nothing short of dismal. We ended up paying the 150 dollars for the shuttle, which coupled with Dianas awful service, was a very negative experience. Don’t stay here. ( they responded to my review on Google saying it was policy, not apologising for the employees rude behaviour and instead stating that me calling out my experience with her for what I saw it to be was poor judgement?)

The hotel has a beautiful view, the cabin we stayed in was super cozy and complete. We took two tours and the experience was great! But remember that each and every activity is paid separately, even the sauna. What leaves a lot to be desired is the restaurant... breakfast eggs and pancakes were always cold, every day the same menu for lunch and dinner, nothing special and sometimes what was being offered was not available, and without basic options like white rice or grilled chicken or vegetables, which leaves you hostage to scarce options and prices like €40 for a steak and fries. But as you can see from others and old feedback, the problem is always the same, so I suggest having your cabin and making your own food... remembering that there is nothing very close to buying if you don't have a car. In short, they have an incredible place, but they lack service that doesn't match the place. without any extra miles and overpriced.
