Awful experience and do not book if you have a pigsback voucher! Will start with the good points as it’s shorter - 1. Food is amazing ate on both nights in the hotel and no complaints, wine is extremely over priced. €42 for a bottle we get in our local off license for €11.99. Cocktails in the bar are nice. 2. Rooms are lovely and spacious- we seen two of them in our two night stay and both were lovely. 3. Hotel seems to have be done up recently and it is nice. Bad points- 1. Upon check in got the vibe that as we were booking in with a pigsback voucher (which as a Christmas gift for a family member) we were classed as “cheap” 2. Was not advised on check in of anything - just a little point to this is where breakfast would be service. Wasn’t asked if we wanted to put a card on the room or book any additional dinners or the spa. Heaven forbid the “pigsback” booking might be spending extra money. 3. Had to move rooms as the smell in the bathroom got increasingly worse as the first night went on - it was sorted quickly but after producing two sets of keys on check out not even so much as we are sorry and also just to point the receptionist did not ask how our stay was and just said safe travels ! 4. Rang to the spa on the second day to be told they were doing a deep clean for 3 hours which started at 11am and then we could possible come down after that, we availed of this but left shortly after as they hoovered around us and no music in the back ground - felt arkward ! 5. When eating in the restaurant on the first night asked could be add our meal / wine to the room only for the waiter to say let me go check and then return and loudly announce in front of another table “no as there is no card on your room” - we were not asked on check in so I forgot to offer but also was not offered at this stage. We paid our bill and left with the embarrassment without going to the bar for cocktails. 7. I did call the receptionist on day two to explain that I felt like a second class citizen because of the pigsback voucher and that I didn’t offer a card as normally a hotel would ask and about the spa delay - she arrange to attend the spa complimentary but I suppose that is why they felt it was ok to hoover around us as we sat in the pool. She also booked a table in the bar to eat that night and the first thing the waitress said was “we can’t charge this to your room”! Apart from the food it was downhill from there. Overall I think the experience could have been so much better than with some experienced hotel staff in place.

On paper Mount Wolseley has all the trappings of a luxury resort, but it's just underwhelming, a bit jaded and too busy to care (the cut n paste responses to every online review are indicative of the management attitude to customer satisfaction). It's a very busy hotel, they can accommodate multiple functions, weddings etc, but on a large family break for New Year's we found ourselves having to sit in the lobby after dinner in the restaurant, waiting to be allowed to use the bar.....as hotel residents, despite there being multiple unoccupied tables in the bar (which all had reserved signs but weren't actually subject to bookings), we couldn't get seated unless we were eating. It summed up the customer experience for me and the attitude towards guests. Not welcomed, not facilitated. Dinner was better than I'd expected, as breakfast had set a pretty low bar. A hotel breakfast is the true test of a venue for me and it was disappointing. The hot food area is unmanned, cramped and poorly planned, with big awkward plastic lids on serving trays and nowhere to place them while serving, which made the process slow. The food itself was alright, cheap catering sausages and fried eggs which were like rubber even as they emerged from the kitchen. Like most decent 4 star restaurants they had a charcuterie offering, but it was pretty poor, even the sliced cheese had dried corners. The pastry selection was routine, but fresh and kept well stocked. Likewise the fruit selection, it was all there, bowls of yogurt too, but it was just uninspiring and summed up by the orange juice, very much from concentrate. All in all it felt like a BnB breakfast in conference center surroundings. The rooms are comfortable, the bed reasonably so. It doesn't feel luxurious, but you wouldn't complain about it. Bathroom was clean, shower was lovely. There were no facecloths, but the housekeeping lady provided a couple when I mentioned it next morning. The hotel is a manageable and safe walk from Tullow, just over 1km away, for a change of scenery, alternative dining options and a much better pint of Guinness. The Leisure center is busy, the pool popular with the kids, the gym is also a public facility and some equipment could do with updating, but it's ok, it has a selection of weight and cardio machines, plus free weights. I was disappointed to find the sauna out of service and apparently had been since before Christmas. The steam room was equally small and a bit lacking in steam, while the Jacuzzi sits about six people at close quarters. For a resort as large and busy as this, also used by non resident members, the spa facilities are tiny and while they may be functional (when actually functioning), they're far from luxurious or relaxing. I found the staff friendly, towels were provided and the girl at the desk lent me a euro to use the lockers in the changing room. I found the junior staff were all very friendly and engaging, except in the bar where floor staff seem too s

Fab hotel in the countryside. We stayed one night and had a great experience. Staff were pleasant and professional and visible throughout the hotel. We availed of the lovely walks near the golf course. We used the swimming pool and leisure centre. It was quiet . Only negative was the heat, the pool water was as warm as a bath. Perfect dinner in Frederick's restaurant, enthusiastic waiting staff who were a real asset. The lounge is very large but was very busy as it served bar food till late so no seats available when we arrived for a post dinner drink. Excellent breakfast system, very organised and plenty of food available with lots of choice. Great bed and room size.

I couldn't fault a single thing - from the Afternoon Tea, drinks in the bar, friendly and professional staff, superb room quality, gorgeous grounds, fantastic bedroom with separate bath & shower, delicious dinner & breakfast and the absolute gem that is the Spa!!! We had an amazing relaxing night away and will definitely return. You will not beat this hotel for comfort, quality, and value for money. 10 out of 10 Mount Wolseley 👌

I have to say that our stay was excellent the food in the bar was very good if a bit limited and the waiting staff were all excellent especially a young man called Krish who went out of his way to make sure everything was to our liking which it was. The bedroom was excellent especially the bathroom which I particularily liked. There always has to be a down side and Im afraid it was breakfast and the server who presented herself to us met us with a frown and for me it kind of spoiled my time here also when we were asked did we want tea or coffee to which we said yes a teapot was pulled out from behind us and the same for a coffee pot and both were cold, needless to say I never asked for fresh pots as i didnt want to see the servers face again, I like to enjoy my breakfast and this just turned my visit sour to some extent. All in all a lovely hotel but having friendly smiling staff is the key to all good business.
