Big mansion beside a river. It's spotless very clean not the most efficient of staff but polite friendly and extremely helpful. A bit overpriced, nice grounds for a walk, lots of activities on offer but 30 euros for a two and a half hour tour??

Sad to be leaving ballinahinch Castle, we had a wonderful few days. The highlight was the fabulous meal in the restaurant. One of the best I ever had. A woman michelin chef I believe. The staff here are amazing, special mention to Frank. I have motility issues and they accommodated me in ever way. The view from our room was amazing. . Room 35 by the way. . Location can't be beat. It was my second visit and i can't wait to return. . Well done to all the team.

Ballynahinch castle is a beautiful property. From the moment you enter the reception area you get a warm feeling of comfort, luxury and relaxation. The welcoming flicker of a log burning fire already invites you to slow down and breathe. The setting is exceptional. We were lucky to have had very good weather, considering it was October. From the moment we arrived, as our room was not yet ready as we arrived early, we chose to explore some of the many walks around the property. The grounds, walks, trails and walled gardens are exquisite. We chose to dine in the Fisherman's restaurant on the night of our arrival. Food and presentation were excellent. My husband decided on the venison burger, the special of the day. However, he did become unwell shortly after retiring to our room. I called reception to report this as I realised some other guests perhaps also chose this option. The night porter called to our room to check on the situation and asked if we needed to have a doctor called. By this stage my husband was resting. We did get a call in the morning at about 7.30 to check on his wellbeing. When we arrived at breakfast we mentioned this to general manager. He politely responded and stated that he would get back to us after checking on other guests who had chosen the same menu option. In all we had the most wonderful experience at Ballynahinch castle and would recommend a stay there for relaxation, comfort and pure luxury, with the bonus of excellent grounds for walking, in a quiet location. We found the general manager very pleasant, professional and addressed the dietary experience with the utmost professionalism. Our stay at the castle was a wonderfulgift from our daughter. It is an expensive place to stay but well worth a visit as the view over breakfast from the owenmore restaurant is simply 'heavenly'. I give the experience a 10 out of 10

The room room was spacious and well appointed. The grounds are well kept with a good range of varied walks. The view from the Owenmore Restaurant was lovely and well illuminated in the evening. The staff in both the restaurant and pub were very attentive, friendly and efficient. The food in both was very well presented and lovely. The building was kept in good condition and was warm and welcoming as were the staff. This is the first hotel I've stayed in for a long time where your sleep was not interrupted by the coming and going of other guests which I suspect is largely down to the thickness of the hall/stairway carpets and the soft gentle closure on the doors. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Really disappointed by the experience. This place came highly recommended by a colleague, I have to wonder if it used to be a great place that's just fallen off. First, calling this a castle is really misleading. Tip of the hat to the marketing team that makes this place seem like a dreamy castle in the woods. It's more of a manor house, updated and privately owned. Our room was fine- the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautifully appointed. It was the terrible (even rude) service. We planned around this stay, so to have such mid level food and terrible service was a total disappointment. We made advanced resvations in the pub, for example- the only table was somewhat late, so we asked if we could come down earlier. No, not possible. When we arrived the place was nearly empty and taking walk ins. But that wasnt isolated. It was consistent to get clipped responses to simple clarifying questions. Maybe that the staff is mostly foreigners, maybe everyone is tired of tourists by October, but I can't recommend a stay here and wouldn't go back.

We've stayed here many times in the past and so knew what to expect. Room as always super comfortable. Staff for most part accommodating although one when I asked him to clean our table in the bar proceeded to wipe the crumbs in my direction in a churlish manner. Poor for this establishment. Dinner in dining room was terrible. Tiny portions even the term fine dining can't justify. Who wants to eat a starter the size of a pea? Why not do a venison stew or a few more robust mains and leave it at that. It was very disappointing. Much theatre but poor script as in the food. Dinner in the bar was more satisfying. At least it had personality. The grounds are gorgeous as always.

This beautiful Castle is somewhere we stayed a while ago. Visiting Ireland last week, we visited with 2 travelling companions, to have morning coffee and wander in the grounds, intending to get a brochure to stay again. It was 11ish. we sat by a beautiful log fire and asked for a coffee. We were told the bar was closed until 12.30 and unlikely. The receptionist checked and came back with "no, breakfast is still being served. I said "well they will be serving coffee" couldn't we just have a tray sent out. Again, no ! I asked to speak to a manager who was very close by and may even have heard. I said "is there really no-one who could put the kettle on for a coffee" She replied that even if we were guests, we would not be able to have a coffee, it was their policy !! So, 2 members of staff standing in front of a potential booking for 4 people (as I had already said we wanted a brochure for a future booking, and neither was prepared to procure a cup of coffee. (Really) ?? I have never, ever, been to a hotel of any standing, anywhere in the world and been refused. I remain puzzled. Needless to say we didn't take a brochure as we will not be rebooking, nor did we walk, as we needed to find somewhere more accommodating for a drink .. Doubly embarrassing as we had been singing the praises of this lovely, previously warm, and friendly place :0( This said, during our stay, everywhere else, be it a pub, restaurant, B ad B or even a shop, everyone else we encountered there, was totally helpful and quite charming.

An old building, but everything worked like it was new. It’s out in the middle of Connemara, so you’re away from everything. They have beautiful grounds that you can walk. We had dinner at the main restaurant and the pub, and both were really good. The room was very spacious and really nice bathroom. It served as a great location to explore other parts of Connemara. My favorite part was sitting by the fire with a pint and some whiskey.
