I have just spent 3 nights at the Twin Trees hotel and it has been the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. The hotel has taken in families seeking International Protection and currently only has 35 bedrooms available for residents (we were not told this in booking). Unfortunately this has created an extremely unpleasant environment in the hotel - security are regularly visible in the doors and inside, but not when you need them. There is a local picket/protest that has been set up at the hotel entrance and last night a fight broke out between residents and the protestors at 3am. No security to be seen of course. Men in balaclavas, waving flags, threatening women - this hotel is NOT SAFE for families so please move your booking elsewhere. On the first night, there were people shouting in the car park from 11-2am (I’m assuming they were the people requiring “protection”. There was also a woman ejected from the hotel and Gardai were called to remove her. You could not make this up if you tried - I have not had much sleep as you can imagine as the shouting went on for hours. This place is an utter nightmare until the Protest and Resident situation is changed so please book somewhere else until that is resolved. There is absolutely no consideration for residents here.

This is the second year my extended family have stayed at Twin Trees. Our stay was even better than last year - the hotel is undergoing renovations which are shaping up really well. The bar, food, and staff were absolutely lovely - we were looked after by attentive, friendly staff both nights. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the pool is lovely. Thank you for looking after us so well!

Foreign receptionist was sort of cold and rude. Felt like she was asked me too many questions on check in The other staff in bar and restaurant were lovely. The hotel is in an nice area and has good potential. Food was good, nothing fancy but did the job. I got a cheap deal, no real complaints as such. I liked leisure centre pool but it was in a separate building

Sad what has happened this hotel. Was run by a nice family but now under new management. New manager is weak, cold and not hands on unlike previous. We stayed here a lot before. All the good rooms are now taken over by asylum seekers and guests have to stay in the older ones. Lots of noise from the asylum seekers as they were directly above our room stomping loudly. The asylum seekers are always hanging round the grounds. Them and foreign security guards made us feel nervous. The refugees are all driving fancy cars which we thought was strange??? Food isn't nearly as nice as it was. Breakfast was cold and poor choices. Soda bread had blue mould on it. I overheard the waiter and receptionist (both foreign nationals also) saying lots more refugees are arriving to a separate building out the back of hotel next month. It looked to us like they had more than enough already. I miss the friendly Irish welcome in this hotel, we won't be back

Sad what has become of this hotel. It was run by a nice local family but new owners have filled it with asylum seeker refugees. The refugees are having a good laugh at the Irish. We saw them out the window all pulling up in fancy cars with bags of shopping from clothes shops. How can they afford practically new cars? Something very wrong here. I overheard the receptionist and waiter ( both also forgein nationals) say that piles more refugees 100 i think, are arriving next month to a separate building out the back of hotel. Looked like the had enough already. We used stay here a lot in the past but won't be back

Have stayed here for many years, but I have to admit this will be my last visit. When we were driving down the road to the hotel seen alot of foreign nationals didn't think anything of it, they were taking over the whole road walking, no rush to move in. Pulled into the carpark and there were loads of them hanging around, thought this was very strange. I then seen them in the windows, a security guard was outside the door, this didn't seem normal. We checked in, room was lovely and warm and very clean. I noticed that the gate going upstairs from our floor was locked as there was no access. We were going to a party and when we came back the security guard was walking around outside this started to freak me out. The breakfast was very poor to what you'd normally get there and then the security guard arrived for his breakfast. I was on the phone to my friend and I was telling her, she explained about the foreign nations taking residency in the hotel and what had happened with the protests. I believe when I booked the hotel i should have been told them they were now residing in the hotel or at least offer the room at a lower rate,
