In short, if you are thinking about staying here don’t. It’s not clean, badly maintained and inaccurately represented. The dining facilities associated with the apartments offer the slowest of service. 1.5 hours to deliver a grilled salmon dish. 20 minutes for a coffee. The bill was someone else’s. Took 25 minutes to sort out which was mine. Chaos. When we checked out they argued about refunding deposit. And took 40 minutes of Walkin talkie chat and rapid walking off and back to do it.

The hotel service is very good and relatively clean. But the biggest problem is that it is too far from the urban area of Balikpapan, and there are no office areas around it. There is only an industrial park of Indonesian Petroleum Company not far away. If you don't go to that place there is no need to stay here. Swiss Garden and Gran Sanu in downtown Balikpapan are both very good, four-star and five-star respectively. Business twin or single-bed rooms are generally around 400 yuan, which is more convenient.

Location was good. Next to a mall. Mall was pretty much empty tho. Room was okay as I stayed only for one night. Might have to give a little bit attention on the floor carpet. There's some strangr smell once you reach your floor. Breakfast option was good. Overall for the price I paid, it was a good choice for business travellers.

Room very basic and had seen better days. Asian breakfast only. Close to shopping centres. Staff hit and miss, I think it was the language barrier, even with Google translate. Asked if they could help with a visit to the orangutan sanctuary, started at the sun bear sanctuary, then the probiscus monkey area, finally got to the orangutan sanctuary only to find that they had only arranged for transport! Nothing booked, nothing seen.
Would I stay there again ? Doubtful.

We came to check in at around 22.30 and at that time you have to drop off your luggage yourself, and put it on the hotel luggage trolley yourself too. At the reception there was one person serving and it took a long time. You already know that day it was very busy, why was CM handled by one reception person without any help from the bellboy or housekeeping.

Was pleasantly impressed with this hotel, definately not a 5 star and just scrapes a four star but overall i was happy. The hotel staff are all very friendly, and the food i ordered to the room was always very nice. The room was clean and housekeeping always keen to help or assist. The beds are comfortable and large. The only downsides that i encountered and hence losing a star in my opinion was down to the lack of proper hot water in the room, and the swimming pool was not cleaned in the week i was there, looked rather dirty so i gave it a miss. The hotel is also not situated in the nicest area of town, so i didnt venture out much.

staff were OK but hotel was very run down. staff said the cheaper rooms were in a separate block without any lift and open corridors. they also face onto a huge construction site which operated as early as 630am some days and sometimes finished as late as 10.30pm. Dirty run down room with hair and cockroaches in bathroom. only positives were good location, good aircon and good wifi in room. sleeping was very poor due to no inroom sound insulation aswell as building work. there is a small swimming pool but wasnt very clean. stay elsewhere - but balikpapan isnt a great option for tourists in general. breakfast was soso, as chicken/meat was recooked and gave me stomach problems... fruit was good

PpdmancsNeo+ was fine for a 2 night stay. It’s only 3 years old, so I was surprised at how well worn the room was, but it was pretty clean. The aircon leaked all over the floor on my first night but was ok the second. WiFi didn’t work well at all. Bathroom was quite sp**** - could have done with a couple of small towels and a hair dryer. Breakfast was mostly Asian with an egg station and toaster. The big negative for me was the location - not the best of locations for a visitor, and quite a long way from anything. Down by the water is far nicer.

GGuest UserDuring my Balikpapan business trip, i prefer to chose hotel property in a prime location. Midtown express balikpapan is located in a central town. walking distance with mall, atm, food hall and business purpose. when i noticing this hotel actually 2 star but they had a very decent room facility and breakfast just like a 3 star + complete amenities and they changed it daily, they even give me an additional mineral water. room was compact and modern. suits on me! cleanliness was perfect. i'm happy with the variety of breakfast. complete nutrition; protein, carbo, fish, and few of jajan pasar. The staff service trully excellent. glad to say that the hotel management give them a proper well trainning - although the hotel was fullbooked, hotel staff still give the guest name recognition. - fast respond in every aspect. i request to laundry by morning and its ready by the afternoon. i just asking to the housekeeping ”is it my laundry already finished?” they say hold on, let us check. and the next 2 minutes my laundry is being delivered to my room. wow! same thing when i request a tiny little help and they just doing excellent. So happy to say that i do have a wonderful time in Midtown Express Balikpapan. keep up your good work

EVEN BETTER IS THE RESTAURANT.. HI BOS..APA KABAR.. ☺️ i have been there many times..they are my Family.. Kika, Laily, Mega, Said, Asrul, ....,EVERYONE EVERYONE EVERYONE TREATS ME LIKE A KING.. Breakfast is a buffet but they will not let me go there.. they sit me down and get me my eggs, teh, fresh fruit and when i stop in during they day they get me es teh no gula.. i make sure to go to a fancy shop that sells very good chocolate Bars and buy 6 assorted big ones for them and A bottle of Wine for Kika and Laily to share. the food is 10000% PERFECT, THE CHEF MAKES GREAT MEALS.. THIS IS MY FAMILY IN BALIKPAPAN. I WOULD GIVE THE ENTIRE HOTEL AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON THERE 10 STARS.. FFE AdiwiranegaraI opened a room at this hotel for a friend who was stopping in Balikpapan, I ordered via Trip.com with the Boutique Suite type, but when the friend arrived and checked in, the room type below was given, because my friend thought it was indeed the room, yes, I accept it. But when I stopped by at night, I saw that the room was not suitable and when I complained he didn't know if the one was ordered a boutique suite. Finally moved to the suitable room.
