Came for a honeymoon massage at the spa and we left half way through. The place seemed unfinished with works going on, we were not greeted upon arrival and frankly the setting was strange, dingy and messy. We arrived early to use the spa facilities which were equally strange, dingy and messy. The hot tub was a pool with insulated foil on top which we had to remove ourselves. We were denied towels so had to get on the massage bed still wet. The towels used to cover my face smelt of damp, and when we went to the bath tubs to wash off the oil there were cockroaches running around. This is when we called it quits. The massage itself was very good, and the massage staff were friendly. This was the only saving grace. Avoid.

This has to be the most disgusting place to stay in Bali. How on earth it was given the rating it has is beyond belief. There are no staff, no reception, no meals, breakfast is brought in and delivered to room COLD. The place is dirty and gardens overgrown. The pools are dirty and surrounds filthy, the SPA is a dingy cave like area down near the river and has not been used for a very long time. And the steps, steps, steps, secret passages everywhere, very creepy!!! Nowhere on the premises to eat, no working kitchen. Originally booked for 2 nights after the first sleepless night checked out. The prices charged are ridiculous and whoever rated this place needs to go back and start again! Situated down a goat track in the middle of nowhere!!!! Give it a big miss.

Disgusting hotel. You used a platform which has flaw in notifying second payment. I was not been notified and got my booking cancelled. Then you refused to refund me fully even when I wanted to just re-book with you again. You took my money for nothing.

Avalon Castle was a mystery before we came, with mixed reviews we were excited to experience this eclectic and beautiful accomodation, and what an experience, truly unlike any place we have stayed before, with funky and amazing rooms with great beds and unique bathrooms, hidden nooks and corridors at every turn the castle accomodation is just fantastic. Multiple pool areas, a hot tub, riverside lounging and cascading falls into a multi layered pool left endless possibilities and areas to escape the hustle and bustle of Bali. Online concierge was interesting and fun ordering light meals and drinks to all areas on the property, and complimentary breakfasts every morning was a great little bonus if u wanted to chill till mid morning before venturing out to the wider world. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and always smiling. Avalon is no normal hotel/resort, you need to remain open minded and have a sense of adventure to really get the most out of the experience, we met alot of interesting people and had some great conversations pool side with drinks and even a small party with a group of expat Russians who had a small gathering on a Sunday afternoon with friends and family, and the lumaria show was a fun and interactive experience also. Planning our next trip in a year and we will be back.

Stayed for 2 and wish we never did. First night, smeld a mould on the bed but not in the room and could not understand. Was so tired for a long yourney just went to bed. My niece slept with me that night. We had 2 rooms booked. The next night, the same thing. Our bedding was not even changed after I asked it to be change. When we went to bed I still smelled that smell. I took of the bedding and pillow cases and to my horror I saw black mould on the mattress on the pillows. It was disgusting. The mattress protector has never been washed. Just turned around still with blood on it. There was no kettle. No bins. If you staying at the top floor by the main swimming pool you hear everything from downstairs bedrooms. The breakfast was not good. The Man owner is rude. His staff should run the place and not the wife and man. They are running this place to the ground. Don't stay here. Promise my money back. And never refunded it. If

One of the most surreal and weird places I've ever been in my life and I don't mean in a pleasant way. We arrived in a very very hot day and we met the girl of the reception and, I guess, the owner. While the girl was superfriendly and showed us around, we haven't heard a single word by the owner, not even a simple "hello". The place looks all but not like in the pictures, the feeling is that it was born as an incredible place, but now the owners are a bit bored of this business. We were in on of 2 rooms whose door is accessible from the lobby, and the room was big and full of light, but this is not necessarily a good point as the curtain were not enough to darken the inside and to not let anyone to look inside. The bathroom was separated by the looby with basically a really thin wooden wall which seems that could fall down from a moment to another. Overall quite a disappointing experience, despite the garden is totally awesome.

We booked for our honeymoon and where so disappointed with staying here, me and my husband are not ones to complain, we have been in Bali for 3 weeks and loved every place until we got to Avalon castle, our room didn’t make sense at all, there where no sockets on the wall, making it very hard to charge out electronics, the curtains provided no privacy at all and let all the light in, there was a carved open window to the outside with no way of shutting it, allowing bugs and hot air into the room, many tiles in the bathroom are all falling off, we asked if we could change room and he said we could but we’d have to pay an extra £10 a night, we then asked to receive a refund so we could just leave and he said no, he also talked to my husband in a very patronising way… thankfully he called out he’s wife and she seems to know what she’s doing and she offered us a different room free of charge. Unfortunately that room was just as bad, aircon hardly cooled the room and there wasn’t any hot water for the first couple hours. The “castle” ( which isn’t even a castle) is still in construction and wasn’t very nice staying by the pool. The whole vibe of that place was very off and we felt so much better and calmer after we left

A couple run this hotel so It's a cosy place, clean beds and wonderful staff around with good food! Good for pictures but I feel little inconvenience walking to and from the room as the property is on a slop next to river. So there is lots of climbing and going downhill. Algea and tad poles were there in open spa area so I didn't try it out. Value for money I would give 8/10 as other places around were expensive in December.
