Devi's Place

Fantastic and fabulous. Such a blissful escape in the middle of rice paddies. It’s our second time coming here and we’ll be back for a third no doubt!

This was our second stay. We purposely selected the same villa we had 5 years ago. It’s an oasis of calm and splendour in the rice fields. We’re walkers so walking to town was no problem. Getting a Grab car or food was also very easy. The staff was welcoming and as kind as our previous stay. We’ll be back.

The place in tejakula was stunning. Beautiful house and the pool area was lovely right on the beach. Siki made lovely simple breakfasts and was very helpful. She lived behind the house and only came to find you when you had asked for her help. We stayed at 6 places around the west, north and on Nusa penida and this was our favourite. The local children came to play on the beach a little further along in the late afternoon and were very friendly as was everyone else we met. It was lovely to see the children playing with coconuts and swimming and snorkeling.

Overall I had a fantastic time and would recommend Devi's place to everyone without hesitation. Positives: *beautiful villa *beautiful location *exceptionally helpful staff, they really went above and beyond (we arrived very late and they were availible to help us find the only resturant that was open close to midnight in the area, they handled everything, which was a great relief for a hungry and tired group that had travelled all day long) Negatives: *This is a minor point, but there were some insects that had decided to take up residence in a secluded sofa outside, but I guess this can't really be helped since parts of the location is exposed to the elements (pool area) Advice for future guests: Get a taxi if you plan to get around, walking can really be a pain since the roads aren't really designed for it. You'll need to rent a motorbike/taxi or be prepared to suffer. It's not expensive though.

We stayed in the Jepun Villa for 4 days: wow, what a great place! The pictures do not even do it justice! It is well kept, clean, quite and has a perfect location. Away from the busy road to Ubud, looking out on rice paddies, in total privacy, the only sound you hear coming from ducks and toke. Hot water at any time. A light breakfast served in your villa 10 minutes after ordering it! The pool was fantastic. Great walks around the villa in the rice fields. Would I stay again? Absolutely YES! Walking to Ubud is possible but can be challenging. If you do not drive a scooter it is a bit far; also traffic around Ubud is dramatic nowadays.

Devi's Place was amazing. If you want to truly experience life in Indonesia - outside of the city, this is the place! My husband and I averaged 7.5 miles walking each day (our choice) and discovered little treasures everywhere we went. We also ate at the local restaurants. We did not experience any stomach issues that some people tend to have. Putu was amazingly responsive. Breakfast was delicious every day that we had it. The fresh local fruit was a great starter for our day. In the middle of the rice paddies, we were able to watch the planting season. We have so much respect for those working in the fields. We enjoyed the private pool and the outside shower. We will be back and we will stay at Devi's Place.

This is one of the nicest , most intriguing places we have ever stayed in. Since we had a group of 6 we had the main house (2 bedroom suites, kitchen, large dinning area with two deck living areas) and the a-joining smaller house (1 bedroom, kitchen, small dinning area and one deck). These two structures surround a pool and large canopy bed. The place is well decorated, the bathrooms were open air and beautiful. The rental was so nice we spent half a day just lounging around. I'm not sure how much we would like sharing the pool space with another couple if we had had only 2 or 4 in our group. I'm also not sure how often this happens on this rental property but it is set up to be used that way. They provide you breakfast, and when I say provide, I mean 3 people come at the time of your choice to fix and serve you a full breakfast of local fruits, eggs, toast, and coffee/tea. It was amazing!! Each day cleaners come to keep the place looking great. One of the things we loved most was the access to nature. There were all sorts of beautiful snails in the yard and even a few in the bathroom. There's a tadpole pond by the pool, birds swooping in and out and geckos keeping the bugs at bay. Mosquitoes were rarely an issue due to the breeze from the rice fields. The area is amazing. I kept wondering where the impressionist painters were. This place is IN the rice fields, which is a culture all of its own: shade huts for the duck keepers, spas, yoga studios and a vegan restaurant (excellent). There are walkways and paths cutting through the fields for a morning stroll. If you want to ride a moped in Bali, this is the place to do it. Our host provided us a car and driver for the days we needed it (HIGHLY recommend getting drivers in Bali for just about everything unless you are an expert moped driver. They are affordable and will give you a ton of information about the Bali culture, history and traditions.) While there is no shopping area close by. There are restaurants within easy walking distance. If I return to Ubud, I would have to come back. Such an amazing place for the price!!
