This was a horrible experience. The hotel looks like it has a good view but that’s about it. The rooms are not as described. There are lizards and all kinds of insects in the room. I found myself having to kill lizard in middle of the night. The seats had blood stains on it. The bathroom is in the open so you will see lizards crawling the walls. restaurant food is overpriced and not enable . Tastes bad. The staff is not friendly. They are rude. There is no one to help with luggage when you checkout. If you try to take grab they will harass you outside saying you cannot use grab drivers to pickup from the hotel. They had me walk all the way to the Main Street to get on my ride because I didn’t use their over priced taxi driver. Terrible experience all around.

Unbeatable cliff top location, it doesn’t get much better than that with private access to a beach. The staff is friendly and exhibits the right attitute, unfortunately the level of English (also a foreign langue to me) is very poor: you’ll have to repeat your wish for many times and still get nothing but a smile, a long wait and/or and “thank you/sorry Sir” but not what you would expect to happen within 5 min. While the breakfast is amazing, food is a bit of a hit and miss: the steak and tuna tartar are from a different world but the famed Mahi-mahi steak or chicken BBQ took 45-60 min to arrive at the table and was dry and over-cooked, a huge disappointment after such a long wait. The worst was trying to order a gin tonic, which at a first attempt came in a glass of 20% tonic and an open can of tonic water rather than arriving properly mixed (it was also hugely sad it didn’t come with any garnish, which I had to ask for separately). In a nutshell, the management doesn’t fully leverage the quality location and friendliness of staff but it’s still a worthwhile place to stay if you’re aware of what to expect.

We stayed in La Joya Biu Biu Resort for three nights and had a great experience overall. The hotel has excellent facilities and access to a private beach. Breakfast is great, and The View restaurant is excellent, too. Our room didn't have a phone, so we had to walk over to the reception if we had an inquiry. We stayed in the Garden Lodge and definitely recommend using that mosquito net, not so much for mosquitos but for geckos.
Make sure to spend at least one evening watching the sunset at the restaurant, the view is hard to beat.
Be aware that there is a ban for Grab and other taxi services to park at the hotel, so make sure to time your pickup correctly. Otherwise, the locals will send your car further down the road.

Cons: was told by the resort that no Grab nor GoJek service can be used in that area, the “standard” fare for taxi to go to airport is IDR 350,000, but we negotiated it down to 210K.
Bathroom is half outdoor, can totally be seen showering from the 2nd storey next to my bungalow, or from the small path if you are tall enough. No privacy.
The only rubbish bin is in bathroom, we put some leftover of food in it and next morning the trash is everywhere, some animals or birds may have come to eat.
Far from downtown (maybe a good point for others).

I'm trying to "vindicate" this hotel after reading these reviews. I'm extremely afraid of all kinds of small insects and animals, so I brought three bottles of insect repellent and electric mosquito repellent all the way from China to this hotel, which made me very nervous the entire time. After checking in, I didn't see a single bug. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Perhaps I had prepared myself mentally for any bugs, so my experience was very good. The location is a bit remote, though. We only stayed one day, so we just hung out at the hotel and ate at the hotel restaurant. We never left. There's a beach downstairs, and the hotel scenery is truly beautiful. And there were no reviews about Grab taxis being inaccessible or being dominated by illegal taxis. Overall, it was a good experience, 4 stars. The hotel staff were also very polite. We were two adults and two children, and the older child was 10 years old. Since we exceeded the occupancy limit, we had to pay an additional 472,111 Indonesian rupiah, about 207 yuan including breakfast.
