I spent quite some time comparing my options before I finally decided to stay at Menjangan Ecolodge. Including comparing to other accommodation next to Plataran (different company). One of the reasons why I finally decided to stay at Menjangan Ecolodge because they (both Menjangan Ecolodge & the Octagon Beach Club @ Plataran) serve all halal meal so it's safer for us as Muslims. We stayed in Baluran - the two bedroom house for 4 nights. Initially we booked for 3 nights but decided to extend. It was perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 young kids). I also like the fact that it's above (I think) empty lab so we didn't need to tip toe while walking in the room just to make sure we didn't disturb anybody since the floor was made of woods so it makes sound when we walk, pray (or run/play since we have young kids). Compared to Ijen House which was above the "office"? Another thing that I'm happy with Baluran is its located by the reception area/communal sitting area which I like especially during nighttime -if you know what I mean😅- It also faces the beach and you can see the village/other accommodation across the bay which I also like. I was pleased by the warm greeting we received when we arrived, from the security person at the gate to the PIC who helped us check in, I'm sorry I didn't get his name :( Then I was happy the moment I stepped in to the room noticing the room layout and the bathroom which was pleasantly design and more than I expected for a lodge. Even happier the following morning during breakfast time when we were served plenty of foods to last a day 😄 Even my non paying 5 yo daughter get a full set. everything was delicious. My personal fav would be the Indonesian Breakfast option - Soto Ayam and the Continental Breakfast option - French Toast with chocolate ♥️ Staying at Plataran-managed lodge we get some complimentary activities (Plataran Encounter) and it definitely was a major plus considering the price we paid which was way more affordable compared to Plataran's not that it's comparable because it's definitely apples and oranges but choosing to stay with Menjangan Ecolodge felt like something that's too good to be true and actually was true. We did the morning walk/bird watching, a visit to Bali Starling sanctuary, snorkeling in the jetty, kayaking, and of course swimming in the Octagon Beach Club. The safari-style buggy car ride was a call away to transfer us between spots or take us back to our lodge. The buggy car ride itself was a fun experience especially for the kids💕 I was planning to do the Trails of Life (one of their paid Plataran Encounter) but unfortunately we couldn't since one of my daughters was ill the entire time during our stay. I definitely feel that our stay here is one of the best experience we've been as family with young kids, definitely the best value for money. Last but not least, all of the staffs were amazing and helpful which makes me want to go back there again. without amazing staffs tha
