White City Hostel

Nasimi
The very location of the White City Hostel, Baku (Azerbaijan in an old mansion, is very convenient, the hostel is a 5-minute walk from the metro station and many transport routes, including from the airport to Heydar Aliyev Airport. Spacious guest rooms, not overloaded with sleeping places, high 4-meter ceilings and unusually wide balconies overlooking the city's perspective are the distinctive features of the White City Hostel. The head of the hostel, organizer and administrator is a positive and professional person Ilkin Zeynalov. He always has everything under control, there are never scandals or any overlaps, everything this person does - he does quickly and easily, despite the fact that the hostel guests come from different countries, he finds a common language with everyone and solves all emerging issues at any time of the day or night. It is impossible not to be imbued with his positive energy! Ilkin himself meets the hostel guests, shows the rooms for accommodation, large and comfortable beds, a shared kitchen, where there is everything necessary for cooking: a stove, saucepans, frying pans, mugs, spoons, forks, etc. There is also a microwave and 2 refrigerators. The hostel has a golden rule: do not make noise from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The night administrator, who receives and accommodates arriving guests of the hostel at night, strictly monitors this and the safety of the hostel. Another rule: drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited and guests strictly follow this rule. All bed linen in the hostel is constantly washed and ironed. Sleeping on such linen is a pleasure. There is a place for ironing clothes for residents of the hostel, cleaning is done daily and, which is important when a certain number of people gather, the premises are disinfected. Two markets, bars, small shops, a wonderful park nearby, the famous noisy and cheerful Nizami street nearby and, of course, the pride of Baku - the Caspian Sea embankment in 10 minutes walk - are the distinctive features of the location of the White City Hostel. Do I recommend you to stay there? - definitely YES! Due to work, I was in the hostel from August 25, 2024 for two months. Liliya Skorobogatko, Moscow, Russian Federation.

Baku Old Town
The 180-degree large window overlooks the old city of Baku, and you can see the Flame Tower and Deniz Shopping Center outside the window. Breakfast is eaten at the hotel next door. It is super rich. You can try fruits, breads, snacks, and local food. The hotel staff was very friendly, helped me carry my luggage, looked after my luggage, and made me feel responsive to my needs. Living in the old city, I get up listening to the chirping of birds every day and petting cats in the old city. It is very pleasant😌 There are enough bottled water pipes. There are also disadvantages, that is, you have to climb the fourth floor! No one helped me on the first day, so it was difficult for me to carry it upstairs alone. I'm on the top floor and the water will be cut off at night. According to the front desk, the water pressure is not enough. Just call the front desk and water will be available within a minute or two. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so you need to open the window for ventilation 😂 The walls are thin, you can hear your neighbors clearly 😂 But I think if you want to sleep at night and go out to play during the day, this location is still very advantageous. Just a few dozen meters away is the subway station icherisheher. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to walk to the small train going to the Flame Towers.

Baku City Circuit
We booked our accommodation quite late for the Formula 1 weekend and we were able to secure a reasonably priced room at Qiz Qalasi Hotel. It is further into Old City, near Muhammad Mosque, and it gave us a chance to explore so much of the little shops and alleyways in Old City. Walking to the Palace of the Shirvanshahs/Philharmonia Garden, and Nizami Park both take about ten minutes. We were lucky enough to be hosted in one of their new rooms which features traditional designs and tapestry, and a lot of natural light. Echoing other reviewer’s comments, our room was also exceptionally clean and well-equipped (including a good range of toiletries). Water temperature and pressure were also decent. The one thing that would make the room even better is a mirror outside of the bathroom. Big shoutout to our concierge, Murad! He was so hospitable and friendly from the day we made the booking to the evening that we departed. We landed in the early morning hours and departed late. He was happy storing our luggage for us before check-in/after check-out, as well as being flexible with check-out time. He also assisted us with booking both ways of our airport transfer (competitive pricing). The hotel has partnered with another restaurant with amazing view of the Maiden Tower and we received complementary breakfast on our first day as a welcome gift which was extremely generous. Very happy with our stay - I highly recommend staying at Qiz Qalasi Hotel to maximise your experience in Old City!
