It feels like a family hotel. The owner and his wife live on one end of the house and the guests live on the other side. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is very warm, the rooms are clean, tidy and beautifully decorated. It really makes you feel like you are home. We stayed in a family room on the second floor, with a small courtyard in the back. The children happily built two snowmen in the back. The location of the hotel itself is right next to the highway. But it's not a main thoroughfare, so it's not noisy. Richard's Second Bedroom Manor, Edensol Town Bakewell, the main attractions in the wind area are all very close, within 15 minutes' drive. The slight drawback is that except for the Robin Hood Club restaurant it operates, there are no other shops around.

Stayed here straight after a 2 nights stay at an AA 4* inn - the switchover was seamless. The room was perfect for a weekend stopover, everything you could want with a touch of luxury. The best hotel breakfast ive had in the UK by far. The room we had contained its own little lawned area and patio, perfect for pampered pooches to relax. The bathroom was stylish, walk-in shower with lovely tiles and toiletries. The room was just like a mini apartment with patio doors, excellent TV, comfy bed and doubles aspect windows. Ample selection of tea and coffee, juice and chilled water on tap on the mezanine just outside the room. Oh did I mention the breakfast? 5* and second to none. Perfect base for exploring the surrounding area

Fantastic mid week break, beautiful B&B, great hosts, amazing breakfast and the best lemon drizzle cake I have ever tasted. Good location, handy for walking and also very close to Chatsworth. Pub next door with good pub grub. Spotlessly clean, room very well equipped with robes, towels, tea, coffee and fresh milk. A wide choice of cordials and a water machine on the landing. Added bonus of an EV charger if needed at a good rate. All in all we had the best time and would return. Handy hint - pack a shower cap, our bathroom had a fixed rainfall shower head, which was lovely but not great if you don't want to get your hair wet !

We went as a couple for a few days away, and I have to say it's probably the best UK B&B we've ever been in! The B&B is situated just off one of the main roads through the area, next to a very visible pub, so you can't go far wrong finding it, even though it is in the middle of nowhere. This also means you can walk in any direction for miles of beautiful scenery and hiking for all abilities. That alone makes the place pretty special, but then when you get inside the B&B you find it's also got everything that you need! The room was clean and tidy with great views and a garden for our room. It's like the owners have listed to everything that's normally missing from a B&B and gone out of their way to make sure they have it - there was water outside the room with a massive selection of cordials, oat milk provided without being stingy about it, as well as a selection of teas, coffee, fresh homemade cakes, all the toiletries you'd need, and they even mentioned a few beers in a fridge (although admittedly we didn't take advantage of that). There's a sheet for you to select exactly what you want on your plate for breakfast (perfect pastries, cereals and everything you'd want in a locally sourced Full English), and the choice to either eat it in the dining room at your chosen time or to have it brought to your room. The owners were friendly and very helpful whilst not being intrusive - it gave the impression that they were happy to leave you to your own peace and quiet but would be on hand instantly should you want anything at all. A good lesson for others in how it should be done. We loved our stay, and will definitely be back again!
